Once you try Guinness in Ireland, it's SO hard to go back. I studied there for a few months and thought the country was beautiful. Enjoy! Let me know if you need any restaurant recommendations for Dublin.
I'd love your recommendations, thank you. So far, we only have one reservation for The Winding Stair.

I've heard that's good but have never eaten there. I will say do NOT go to Temple Bar. Extremely overpriced (you're talking 12€ for a Heineken) and very touristy. Stag's Head is also a famous pub in Dublin but it's not as well known as Temple Bar so not nearly as crowded. It has very cool Victorian style artwork and archetecture.

Brazen Head is the oldest pub in Dublin - dating back to 1198. Food and drinks are really good and the space is very cozy. Not super far from the city centre or the Guinness brewery.

I know it's weird to think about Japanese food in Dublin but I LOVE Yamamori Izakaya. It's not too far from Grafton Street walking wise. The food and atmosphere are phenomenal. Really great sake selection too.

One of my favorite pubs and hangout spots is Hairy Lemon. Again, not far from Grafton Street. This place can get SO packed that it gets to be standing room only. Their lamb stew and Bangers and Mash are just...*chefs kiss*.

And of course.....Nandos! It tastes WAY better than in the US.

I am putting these on my list. I heard Temple Bar is a big, crowded tourist trap, but my 20 yr old son insists on checking it out. Since this trip mainly focuses on his requests, we will check it out. Our trip to Germany is what my other son requested. Both these trips are make-up trips for events that occurred during Covid.

Not going to lie, it is IMO. There are some good pubs in the area. 100% recommend The Palace. Similar to Brazen Head, it's one of the oldest pubs in Dublin. WAY better live music. The actual Temple Bar is an overpriced tourist trap. Their live music isn't even the best you can find in the city.

Where in Germany are you going?

I hear you about Temple Bar, but it is my son's call. He comes some from school tomorrow and I am going to show him your recommendation.

We've been to Germany before with both sons, specifically Berlin and Dresden. This trip will start in Munich - for 3 nights. We are on our last Munich day and then driving around the Black Forest with an overnight in Fussen, and two nights in Freiburg. After that, we will possibly spend a few hours in Strasburg, France before driving to Nuremberg - for 2 nights. We fly home from Munich.

Both the Ireland and Munich trips were put together just last week. I am open to any and all suggestions. I am the travel planner in the family but I usually have more time to research.

I understand. I didn't mean to sound pushy if it came across that way. Just some ideas for a pub crawl, maybe? I've never had food at Temple Bar so idk if it's worth it or not.

Oh, one more recommendation for pubs because I totally forgot about it. Daly's of Eden Quay (also called Lanigans online. Seems to have 2 names?) is also a fun place to visit. They theme it differently for each season. So for Halloween they had a shrunken head doll aesthetic going on and they go all out on snowmen, elves, etc. for Christmas. I've seen them do a hot air balloon/flying theme too. They also make a Hot Toddy so strong it'll knock you off your butt! lol It's located on the first street when you cross O'Connell Bridge.

Those plans sound great! I'm very jealous.

You did not come across pushy. I appreciate warning me about the Tower Bar. I’ve been reading about it and am prepared to feel like I’m back in college🤪

boba tea :crazy2: sorry-it just reminds me of what a refrigerated container of post dated tapioca looks like........all that liquid with those pearly thing floating in it. i'll stick with regular tea.
I'm not a fan either. I've tried it, don't like it (and I've tried a few flavors -- we used have a Boba Tea shop in our town. That didn't last long.) Those beads only belong in tapioca pudding, not floating in my drink. :)

I hope everyone has fun plans for the day. I’m taking my daughter and her friends ice skating, it’s going to be hot and rainy down here in SoFL so it’s the perfect activity, freezing and indoors 🤣. I never learned to ice skate growing up down here because my mom was afraid I was going to get hurt, I did however go roller skating a lot so 🤷🏻‍♀️. They both are similar in danger level to me. I did try to relive my roller skating days at a party for one of my daughter’s friends and broke my wrist when I fell so that’s my cue not to try ice skating 🤣

So your mom was right!!! Just had the date wrong.

Hope it healed ok. I broke the same ankle twice. Once walking and slipped, and once missed a step. I'd probably break my whole body if I did ice or roller skating.

Yes it was stiff for a while and did daily stretching to increase its flexibility and its back to normal now. I had never broken anything up until that point.

Anyone want to talk sump pumps? Been wanted a battery back up one for years, but other things got in the way. DH is concerned we have a rough pit that was done 45 years ago. Not a cute pit with a plastic liner thing. Will this be an issue? It's like they pour the cement floor and broken off one corner, stuck in a sump pump.
