Been to Five Guys once. Food was fine, but at $12.71 for a hamburger, they, like Carls Jr, are way out of line price wise.
The mom and pot Gourmet burger place charges $11.29 for a burger that is better.
That's the key to In and Out's success. Top quality ingredients, freshly made, reasonable price, quick service.
No joke I paid $20 at Five Guys the other day for 2 shakes and 1 coke. The cashier APOLOGIZED to me! lol

I didn’t.

Are you old enough to have eaten at a Sisters Chicken and Biscuits?
Hmmmm you are making me GOOGLE again! :surfweb:

Looks like mostly in the Ohio area AND they were opened by Dave Thomas of Wendy's ...... and I would have been old enough, just not in the right place.

Now we did have Grandma's Biscuits. We moved to Atlanta in 1969 and it was my first biscuit, first sausage biscuit and first grits. I do miss that place.

Five guys is pricey. In more included to pay their prices lately for better quality as a Big Mac value meal is pushing $12 now. A little bacon cheeseburger at 5G is about $8 and we always share the fry. We are in the Midwest.
I have a road trip coming up. I suspect McDonalds, Burger King, Carls Jr will be among my lunches then. Usually off the Value Menu......what USED to be the dollar menu. We've found double cheese burgers to be a good choice, but not a dollar anymore

watched a documentary on Dave Thomas at the hotel after returning from Epcot a few weeks ago - fascinating story!

they are still less expensive (and i feel better quality) than fat burgers. we had 2 local to us and the 1 that remains open is located at a casino-captive audience.

we almost do better price wise stopping at places like sheri's, perkins and other chain 'coffee shops' (esp. since they frequently let us top off our thermos of coffee or travel cups with ice tea or soda at no charge).

Shake Shack is probably the go to for fast casual burgers. Do you all have Burger-Fi near you? That's a great burger chain as well. Grew up eating at Fuddrucker's but they closed all their stores in my state so now I can only get it when I visit Hershey PA.

I used to beg to stop at Stuckey's when on road trips when I was a kid ... my dad would do the old ... if i need to stop this car and come back there ... I didn't have the guts to say ... sure, as long as you stop the car at Stuckey's ... ahhh memories ...

We have a Burger-fi less than 15 mins away (North Atlanta) ... I am a fan.

But did you get a pecan roll?

But did you get a pecan roll?
I am sure its hard to believe, from the fine upstanding adult I have become, but I was a weird kid ... I liked their breakfasts and couldn't not get enough of runny eggs sunny-side up with toast ...

My husband is obsessed with Old Bay!!! lol It's not a condiment widely used here (west coast of Canada) and we received a small bottle as an FE gift on an Alaskan cruise. After we went through that one quite quickly I bought a huge bottle on Amazon. Love finding more uses for it!! :rotfl2:
That’s an awesome FE gift. I did an FE exchange a few time when they used to get coordinated on the DIS boards, but when they moved over to FB that’s when I stopped.
Just so you know....they have started slicing dill pickles LIKE a hot dog bun and putting the hot dog in it with spicy mustard. Not even kidding. Our ballpark and fairs have them.
This sounds like my kind of GF hot dog bun!

So I guess when we run out of topics we can guess each others ages for another 20 pages.

I do need to find a good biscuit and gravy breakfast place. I sure do miss hearing my grandma banging our at 5:30am in the kitchen when we would visit. Crisco, buttermilk and self rising flour with some bacon grease gravy. I might have to make some this weekend.
