Sonic has my heart,
None of our Sonics are good anymore. Okay the food is fine the cherry limeade and ocean water are good but the locations have all gone so downhill. From moldy ice cream machines to sloppy slow incompetent service we just don't really go there unless we're dying for the drinks. We do order in the app though as the deals are better. It's been sadly more than 10 years since I could find a good location

never encountered one in northern california so i had to try it when we moved out of state. LOVED my first few visits b/c they sold chicken strips and one of the dipping sauces was warmed country gravy. that was gone about a year later but i still enjoy them-esp their cranberry lime aid!

old school place that i heard of but never encountered until i moved out of california-cracker barrel! tried them recently and i have to say-they have some good comfort food.

anyone on this thread old enough to remember marie calendars when it was only a local chain to southern california and if you had family there they would refer to it as 'marie's'?

Do people in other parts of the country have Culver’s now, or just here in the upper Midwest? If I have to stop for fast food, I will generally pick Culver’s over the other options. And yes, they have both decent burgers and chicken sandwiches. But most importantly, in season, they have walleye. And frozen custard. And decent fries. Ok, I’m done for today.

Edited: And I have never been charged for ranch. Lol

Chicken fried chicken with hashbrown casserole and mash potatoes or fruit (or side salad back when that was an option) is my usual order there. None of us wanted corn bread so we always asked for just the biscuits and when those are made well boy they are soo good. Bring back the butter discussion the apple butter is good at cracker barrel.

Did you ever go perusing in the store part? I've found some good stuff over the years there

People just don't get it. It's not that it's anything *special.* The entire reason why it's so popular is that for the PRICE, it's phenomenal. I mean, literally nowhere else can you get food that cheap at such high quality.
That's what I was trying to say. No other restaurant in my city is as popular as In and Out. Not even Chick-fil-A, but it's a close second.

:rolleyes1 Are you and I going to have a problem, John?:rotfl2:
Let me give more context to my one and only White Castle experience then. It was in Las Vegas and probably around 10:30pm after we had just landed and dropped our luggage at the hotel and wanted a quick bite. Perhaps they sat there too long? The buns were soggy......:scared: for a true White Castle experience it should be on the east coast then? And not, I'm assuming, the frozen ones I can buy from Fred Meyers in Bellingham WA? :rotfl2:

Well I'm willing to give White Castle another shot if the situation presents itself. I stand by my Five Guys statement though....whomp whomp

it's historically nasty no matter where you get it.

my experience with it is berkeley california-it was nasty then (even the circa '70's and 80's imbibed party animals awaiting/departing the midnight university theater showing of rocky horror stumbled elsewhere to quell their muchies). the frozen ones are honestly the best representation of a fast food product i've ever encountered-pure c...p just like the original.

i love 5 guys cuz i can get my mushrooms, grilled onions, raw onions, a1.......all without having to calculate $1.50 for each additional topping!

We've had culvers for years here in KC area. Got 5 or 6 near me. It's good. I usually get a butterburger with cheese, mayo and pickle.

We have one in Fulshear Texas (a suburb of Houston)

Well I just got out from seeing the Super Mario Bros movie and see that there's an extensive burger debate.

I get that In N Out has good prices - I just see people on social media hype it up SO much that I expected way more. Also in my opinion it's a stretch to call their food high quality but I digress.

Sad to read that Raising Cane's isn't that good though. Everyone around here went insane when they opened up a restaurant in my area.

I always tell people, don't compare it to Five Guys, Shake Shack or any of the other Fast Casual burger places. Compare it to McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, true fast food. Yes, the fries are not everyone's cup of tea, but the burger is far superior than those.

We didn't have it when we lived in WA, had them for the 5 years we were in AZ, and then spent a long 10+ year drought here in CO. But they finally came here! The first one in Denver metro opened 3 weeks before my birthday in 2020. So since we weren't celebrating with a normal restaurant experience, we headed to the drive-thru and so it was still a special birthday meal. Now there are multiple locations, and we go about every 2-3 weeks. They have a location, and gotten the city approvals to build one about 3 miles away, and I can't wait!

There’s Culver’s in FL too and they are the only fast food besides chik-fil-a that has GF buns. They have amazing root beer too.

Just got out of the Mario Movie too! It was super fun, we really enjoyed it.

I was just talking with a friend tonight about what gf stuff we should try in our air fryers next. We were discussing pickles and zucchini. Maybe I’ll tell him to nix that as it is a lot easier to just slice a pickle, slap a dog on it and call it a day.

On the subject of GF and my response to someone about Biscuits and gravy, I need to master gf biscuits. Any suggestions?
The best I’ve found is from Mom’s Place GF online store they have a biscuit mix and they have a sausage gravy starter too I usually get a roll of the jimmy dean sausage and crumble and fry it up. It’s a favorite in our house.

Hey, us too! And we went to In N Out for lunch!

So, to address this:
Everything they serve is fresh. No freezers. The ground beef is Harris Ranch beef, which is extremely good quality beef. The potatoes are fresh and sliced on-site and fried in 100% sunflower oil. The bread is basic, I'll give you that, but the buns are delivered by the bakery fresh every day. The lettuce and tomato are always crisp and juicy. The cheese is high quality deli style THICK sliced American cheese. It actually melts. The milkshakes are made with actual ice cream. The lemonade is made fresh. It's about as high quality as you can get for a fast food burger and fries.

A cheeseburger is $2.80. A Double Double is $3.95. A milkshake...$2.50. You can't beat it.

I love their shakes - sooo good.

Fast food tastes are subjective no need to argue about preferences. I think we can all agree we're better off eating as little of it as possible.
I try to limit it to once a week. My current favorite is Panera. Chipolte and Rubios have been on my favorite list for years. I like salads. With my kids, it's In and out.

The only place I'll door dash when I get home late is Chick Fila and that's only because they don't screw up my order. Well, the food is good too.

Papa Murphys is another great "I don't feel like cooking a meal". 2 large pizzas a salad and cookie dough for 35 dollars. Portillo's 1 pound of meat, bread, and gravy for 22 dollars is another great "I don't feel like a cooking" meal... just make your own fries to go with.

We went to one about 6 months ago right off Interstate 80 in Fairfield when driving home from San Francisco.
Most of the car hop bays were roped off with a sign saying "Closed due to staffing shortage". You couldn't go inside for the same reason, closed. About 3 bays open and the drive up.

Hey hey we used to live in Fairfield!! 😁 Well...actually we used to tell people we live in Cordelia (sounded nicer than Fairfield🤣)
