My screening of the Super Mario Bros movie was packed too. Almost every seat was taken. Very rowdy theater too (no cursing or fighting but LOTS of cheering and laughing). I'll probably watch it again when I'm able to at home since I feel like I missed some jokes due to people being so loud lol

The only time I brought my own food (as in a meal) to a park was when my sister and I went to Islands of Adventure for the afternoon/evening. If you think MK food is bad, don't get me started on the non Wizarding World quick service places.
At Islands of Adventure Confisco Grill or Mythos are the only way to go. You can get reservations usually a couple days ahead for lunchtime. The Today cafe at Universal is my go to there. Nice sandwiches.

When we lived in upstate NY, wild turkeys were very common. They actually can fly, but look like a bowling ball with wings. Scared the snot out of me, first time I saw one fly across the road.

Oh my gosh! I had a flock of wild turkeys fly out across the road out of nowhere last fall. Missed my car by inches. I was shaking it scared me so bad.

We love the lunch menu at Steakhouse 71 it’s amazing especially for those who eat GF, so many delicious sandwiches and my favorite the bacon and eggs!

We had lunch at Steakhouse 71 today. They have a chopped salad that is new. It was delicious. We go for lunch almost every trip just for the steak sandwich.

And in Western NY, the only acceptable dip with wings or pizza is blue cheese. Ranch is for salads, not pizza & wings. ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:Napa was a little more enjoyable back then. It was a bit more laid back than now. Still nice, but if I were still living close to it, I don't think I would go up there as much as I used to.

I haven't been in the busier season - I was there several times post harvest and she joined me in December - so things were a lot quieter I think than perhaps in peak season. We will likely get back there for a long weekend between June and November when we go back to WDW. We had planned on Hawaii, but it didnt pan out with the couple we were planning to go with and now we can't go without them - which I was perfectly ok with lol

i haven't been back in over 10 years but if we ever return dh and i have to go check out 2 of the bed and breakfasts that have opened in recent years-1 is the victorian house that we rented our first apartment in (photos of the reno they've done on it look phenomenal but BOY the stories we could tell about the antics the renters engaged in :rotfl2: ) BUT the 1 we REALLY want to see is the former funeral home/crematory o_O. from what i can tell from the photos on line the bedrooms are the former viewing rooms and the open area dining room patio and kitchen is where the crematorium equipment was located (makes sense i guess-that's where the gas lines would have been::yes::::yes::).

i personally love calistoga-dr. wilkinsons hot springs does the most amazing mud baths, massages and facials:thumbsup2

ooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkk-anyone willing to share their easter dinner menu (if you partake). i'll start out-

honey baked ham
latekes
ds's 'famous' 3 cheese and bacon mac and cheese

boneless leg of lamb marinated in wed wine/seasoning, broiled while brushed with dijon
honey and butter laden sugar peas
pasta salad
staffed eggs

marion berry pie/deep dish apple pie (thanks to sheris cafe).

it's only the 4 of us so there will be tons of leftovers which i cool-i can send some home with the older kid, free quite a bit for the rest of us.

We have the same thing every year 😂 ham, mashed potatoes, whatever veggie is in the freezer (this year is broccoli and cauliflower), Hawaiian rolls and Mac and cheese. So many carbs but so yummy and the kids will actually eat it so I’m not complaining.

It’s just the two of us, no family nearby. And while I will do the whole Thanksgiving meal, despite the work, I draw the line at Easter. So we’re going to do our usual… we have a reservation at Ted’s Montana Grill. We are also picking up some pastries from a local German bakery to have for breakfast while watching the Paris - Roubaix cycling race.

Turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese (Stouffer's--highly anticipated!), asparagus, maybe rolls. It's not a big one for us, one kid is working, they just want their baskets.

Oh, and a fancy cake from Publix. They're fancy cakes are all on sale this week, and we LOVE them! Usually, my kids love to bake, but I didn't want DD19 to feel pressured. She did make chocolate chip cookies last night, but they'll be long gone by Sunday.

We stayed in Calistoga at one of the more recently opened resorts on Silverado Trail not far from the downtown area - Calistoga, St. Helena and Yountville were my favorite areas.

I passed Ted's yesterday on the way to shopping for Wife's birthday tomorrow - was almost tempted to stop by for a cocktail but don't like going to a bar by myself (and the wife would have been a little annoyed that she couldnt join me) and it would have been distracting to the task at hand :)

For Easter, we don't have family near us either so we usually host a couple and another extended family - it ends up being about 15 people or so. Typically, it's Honey Baked Ham and maybe some type of grilled beef, a large assortment of appetizers, sides, and desserts brought by everyone (mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, carrot soufflé, sweet potatoes, salads, and etc...) We have been doing it for about 10-15 years, so its kind of nice to have everyone around. We used to do the Easter Egg hunts and baskets for the visiting kids, but now they have all grown up.

6 of us for Easter. A few don't like ham.

We're grilling steaks. Dh wants to do a rub like Longhorns or Outback's.

Loaded mashed potatoes, grilled corn, vegetable kebabs, green salad.

And a decadent dessert (will see what they have) from the grocery bakery store and toll house cookies.

We had 14 over 2 weeks ago and grilled a spatchcocked turkey, made roasted vegetables, wild rice and a had a delicious lemon cake from the same grocery bakery.

Yeah we usually do sit downs as we cannot stomach the non Wizarding World quick services. I wasn't super impressed with Finnegan's over in USF but I'm considering trying Mythos soon!

As for the Easter convo, I don't really celebrate the holiday so I won't be doing anything special for dinner, as in like cooking anything. We (me, my sister and some of her friends) are going to have dinner at Vivo at Universal City Walk that night though. None of us have ever been and the menu looked nice.

Unless we get invited somewhere we don't do anything special. This year we are going to sister's house because her grown kids want a gathering. She is having Honey Baked Ham and Turkey. I'm taking Pasta Salad and another side dish. Guess I need to figure it out.

PERSONALLY I do not enjoy holiday meals. It boils down to lots of work for just a few (one of them being me) while the majority enjoy the day. Add hosting and ........... :bitelip:

EDIT: Just heard from my sister, more than half the family not coming so I only need Pasta Salad and she says the meats will be for sandwiches. :cool1:

I thought this was everywhere..... and fries with Mozzarella melted on top dipped in Blue cheese.
Sorry every time I look there is 5 more pages...... People dip things in ranch and put it on Pizza
But then again in Texas years ago I ordered a burger asked for Ketchup and the person said I am not sure we have any... Same at the Hotel room service served on a silver platter under the cover was a Burger and a jar of mustard.... what is wrong with people :rotfl2:

I tend to agree with that ... for the major holidays, we host New Years Eve, Easter, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving and more often than not ... its a lot of running around and preparation to get ready. The older I have gotten, the less inclined I am to host for the larger gatherings. I like the smaller get togethers with a few couples (the ones we Disney with) and thats about it. Of course, we always like when the family is in town for Memorial Day and Disney trips. So this year, we will be in Disney the day after Thanksgiving and New Years Day lol

All that work and it gets eaten in like 30 seconds! Then time to clean up!
