Let me start by saying that DH had a vasectomy 4 years ago, so the risk of preganancy is not a factor...
now for the situation. I am on Seasonale, one of the "only one period every 3 months" kinds of pills for hormonal reasons. Well, my one period every 3 months is going to be when DH are on our first cruise for our tenth annversary in July. :scared1:
So, I have enough time to change the timing on this. Should I
a) stop taking them now, and pick it up after my June cycle so I can skip July's
~or~
keep taking them as I am, and try to squeak out an extra week of active pills from the next pack, and take the placebo week when we get home?
So frustrating trying to think about it!!!!

It seems to me that option A is the better one, but I'd call your GYN and make sure. :goodvibes

Good for you for planning it out now, while you have plenty of time to make whatever change is recommended! :thumbsup2

I would ask the Dr - - but personally, I would eake out another week and then do the placebo after vacation. Sometimes if you stop and then start you could have little bleeding (breakthrough I think they call it) at different times, not to mention the fact that you take them for the hormonal benefit, which I would not mess with too close to a vacation......not sure about you, but I remember what those days were like!! I used to do this with my monthly pills back in the day when I had vacation plans.

I'd call dr and ask.
I am on ortho tricyclin lo and just figured i'd skip the placebo and go straight on to the next pack, apparently this is a big no-no with this pill due to the low dosage of hormones. I got my period, just 2 days later than I normally would.

I'd definitely check with your GYN. I NEVER get my period and can't take the pill because of a medical condition I have and my doctor told that I ALWAYS have to have a period at least every 3 months.

I would call your OB/GYN just because its not the traditional birth control pill. I had to do that method for my honeymoon but now I don't have to worry about it because with the BC I'm on now I don't get my period.

I have done this with Seasonale - since all the active pills contain the same amount of hormones just start a new pack and go period free for six months.

Not a problem.

Well I've not done it with Seasonale, but when I did it with Yasmin I tried going from one pack to the next w/o the placebos and had a period anyway... I'd take the placebos early and move onto the next package... but ask your doc.

I take seasonale and adjust my periods all the time. I've never had a problem - like you I don't take it for birth control. If I were in your situation I would stop taking the pills in the beginning of june - have my period - and then start the pills again so I would be in the middle of a cycle for my trip. Sometimes the body doesn't listen, but it usually works out great

I take this one too but not for BC reasons.

My periods are so light I see no reason to try to stop them.

OP - Call your Dr.

I used to be on Seasonal, but I switched to a diff pill this past year..I also was on for hormonal reasons + BC, so I was worried about getting my period. When they put me on the monthly kind, I was told that I can go ahead and skip the placebo's all together, and just keep rolling with active pills...I have now for over 5mo, and no issues..and I feel better because I am not getting all the PMS symptoms..this came from both my Dr and GYN. Usually when I was on placebo's I didnt get a real period, not even spotting..so thats probably why

My advice, just skip the placebo, and keep on with the actives till the end of the next pack.

I've done all of this... and then I found Lybrel. It's the one period a year pill.

I've already talked to my dr about skipping the off week at the end of the year and she said it was fine. There is no reason why you need to have a period unless you are trying to get pregnant.

Even when I was on Seasonique, I would get a migraine every 3 months, in conjunction with the placebo week. Before that, it was every month with a migraine. I haven't had one in a year since I started on Lybrel. Why mess with a good thing?
