Adjustable waist pants for tweens?

I got jeans for my daughter at target - not sure if the boys there also have adjustable waists but it's probably worth checking.

I haven't shopped at Children's Place in years. I loved that place when my kids were little. I just checked and it looks like their pants only go up to 62" tall kids. My son is 65" so it doesn't look like those will work. I wish they listed their inseam size on their website instead of just the height.

From my experience, they run pretty long. But then again, I only have girls. ;)

If you don't have a store near you, I wonder if you call one maybe a nice clerk will pull a pair of pants and measure the inseam for you.:confused3

I haven't read through everything but I know your issue well. I know i"m going to have to go to size 16 pretty soon for my older DS (when DO they start going into men's sizing?) and I highly doubt I will find the adjustable waist. I told him he is going to have to start wearing a belt -- he agreed but the one lone pair of 14 slims that do not have the adjustable waist, still sit there.

I found some 14 slims with adjustable waists at Meijer's if you have those near you. I literally bought all I could find when I found them. I am convinced my son is probably a size 10 in the waist if that, so UGH. The kid either needs to eat MORE to put on pounds (doubt it, he burns it off as fast as he eats I think) OR stop getting so tall. :lmao:

Finally got done reading & Woo Hoo!!! Looks like I've found some places that carry the size 16 with the adjustable waists too. Shorts are never a problem but can't exactly wear shorts in an Illinois winter. I'm going to have to check out Old Navy & Land's End myself. I'm glad this was started because poor DS was wearing some mighty short jeans by the end of last year.

My niece has always been tall and very thin, she's now 5'11". Her mom would find jeans that fit in length and would just peg them in at the waist. You could always try that route.

Get on landsend email list they always have pins for free shipping and you can return them to your local sears store. I just bought a land's end coat for oldest dd for college. I had bought her one a local store but that night we got a email and we found a better coat at lands's end with free shipping and 25% off. It ended up saving us $70 dollars so it is worth being on their email list. But they do have elastic waist in their jeans. Younger dd has the other problem, long torso, no waist, bigger tummy and short legs. we have a real hard time finding jeans for her that are long enough in the stride and waist but don't make her look like a "plumber". :rotfl:

Well, Old Navy only carries slim sizes up to size 12. Those were way too short.

I bought a pair of 16 regular because that was the only size that was long enough. The length is perfect. They do have the adjustable waist and they actually fit but they are truly hilarious. The back pockets are HUGE and they overlap because the pants are pulled so tight at the waist. The legs are ginormous. My son was able to fit both of his legs in just one pant leg. :rotfl2:

Buying pants for my son that doesn't care what he wears should not be harder than buying pants for my picky daughter. This just isn't right!

I ended up going with a pair from Land's End. They are NOT my favorite. They are part of their uniform collection but after talking to two different sales people, they seemed to agree that they are the only pants they sell that will fit him. Both couldn't believe his dimensions. :lmao:

I was able to get a 12 slim and they will hem the pants to the correct length.

I just discovered that the men's pants sizes at American Eagle Outfitters go as small as 26/28. (the smallest two sizes are online-only).

That's not quite small enough for DS at this point, but I'm going to keep it in mind when he outgrows the adjustable 16's.

We have a LOT of trouble finding pants for DS. He is 13, but he is tiny.

Last year he wore the adjustable waist pants from Children's Place, size 10. They are too small. The size 12's are HUGE!!! We did manage to pull them tight enough in the waist, but they are too long.

He has one pair of size 12 Gap jeans. Both sides of the elastic are pulled to like the 8th hole, so he has 6 inches of elastic dangling down inside his pants. They are also too long.

Anything without an adjustable waist is huge.

We found some Quiksilver cargo pants at Nordstrom that he loves. They say "25", which the website says is size 10. Even with his shoes on they almost drag the ground. The kids have to tuck their shirts in at school, so the shirt combined with a cinched up belt keeps the pants from falling off. :sad2:

You might try Aeropostale as well. We bought adjustable waist cargo shorts there last summer starting at 27 waist. Their straight jeans seem to run a little slimmer than American Eagle in our experience.... YMMV.

We've found jeans in slim sizes up to 18, especially Levi's. JC Penney had Khaki's in that size (Izod brand as well as their own). Now 18slim fits around but isn't long enough for my son so we bought 28xz30's at Aeropostale or 29x32 from American Eagle and grudgingly wears a belt.

Good luck - I feel for you. I can hardly wait until my son is up to a 30 inch waist :)

We buy our skinny boy :) size 14 regular at Old Navy and they have the adjustable waist. The pants have longer legs, are cool looking and he wears longer t-shirts so you can't see that they are all cinched at the waist
