Adele Tour Announcement, Are you kidding me?

And here is the beautiful thing about general admission concerts. The people in the front rows of those shows EARNED those spots. Not by paying heavy prices to scalpers or even by being quick to buy tickets. But rather by being a devoted enough fan to line up an hour or two before doors, waiting for the opener, enjoying the opener, etc.; in other words, by putting the work in. I'm in the front for most concerts I see and I don't have to jump through ticketing hoops or go broke to get there. It's awesome.

Or working your way in. Heck - my family went together to a free music festival last year. We arrived kind of late and found an empty spot to watch Mavis Staple. We left for a bit and got back in time for Chris Isaak. However, this was kind of a family atmosphere. I'm not quite sure what it would be like at a more adults-only venue.

So the big announcement is made today and the young gals in my extended family so want to go. The rumor is they go on sale the 17th which is this Thursday for dates Sept 6 and 7th. I haven't gotten any emails or pre-sale codes, which I normally get for all the "big" concerts, and can't find any info on the web. However, scalpers have tickets listed already on vividseats starting at $415 for Detroit and topping out at $10,825 in Chicago for dates in July. I'm thinking everyone should just watch her concert on tv tonight for free. :rolleyes1 With Adele only playing 25 shows nationwide, there is not much hope for the little guy.

Also, I'm a little disgusted at these artists that sell their shows so early and hang on to our money, making interest, for months. Kenny Chesney plays Ford Field the 3rd weekend in August every year and puts his tickets on sale in November. When you add all that money up, for every show that is sold almost a year in advance, they are making bank on the fans.

If there weren't plenty of buyers, they wouldn't do it.

It's not just the artists...the venues are sucking the little guy dry too. The last concert that I went to, the tickets were only $40 which was good, but there was $23 of fees for the venue, the production company, ticketmaster and who the heck knows who else on top of the ticket price...more than 50% in fees! .

I'll go against the consensus and say I love StubHub and buy from them all the time. I can chose exactly where I sit and they have tickets the general public rarely gets to buy like front row.
I travel a lot for work and never know if I will be in town - hell Adele is so far away I could be dead by then - so I like StubHub. Plus I have used them to sell tickets when I end up traveling and it's so easy. Great customer service.

Concerts are my thing and I see a ton. It's what I chose to spend my disposable income on.

I got good seats for the Adele concert in my city. They were presale tickets and I planned to go with my best friend. i just found out from my husband that his work may be relocating our family very far away. I can't even give these tickets away. I have to be there with my receipt, my picture ID and the credit card I used to get the tickets and then my guest and I will need to immediately enter the venue without the ability to exit and re-enter. I understand that this prevents ticket resales and I'm fine with that. I just wish I could pass the tickets on to someone else.

wait to the very last minute and look on stubhub. works like a charm at least 90% of the time. There a few concerts so popular there is always demand but most have plenty for sale at the end far under the list price

People have been complaining about how expensive concert tickets are, but you have to remember, for most artists, touring is where they make their money. They make almost nothing from the label, even if their album goes Platinum. With a lot more people using iTunes Music or Spotify, the artists are making even less from selling recordings of their music.

It is more the ticketing fees I have a problem with anymore, not the price of the ticket. When the taxes, ticket fee and facility fees add up to more than the original ticket price I get irritated and this is happening more often than not.

I would be careful about that strategy with Adele. I think the demand is so huge they won't have any trouble getting the asking price for the tickets. There was a huge debacle with Super Bowl tickets last year. There were plenty of Seahawks fans that paid $10-$15k per ticket and got to Phoenix to collect their tickets to learn the scalpers instead sold their tickets to people willing to pay $30k. The attorney general here really went after the scalpers and sued plenty of companies.

As a Club level Season Ticket Holder for the MN Wild, our group has the option for our seats for every event that comes to the arena (Xcel Energy Center). This is the only way I have been able to solidify access to all the shows that come to town without ridiculous up charges -- and, we are 1st row on the aisle of Club Level, which offers larger seats and the whole section is only 8 rows deep. So, when you get up to use the restroom and or get a drink the same song is playing when you return.

So, having said that, I got my two Adele tickets and will send my wife & daughter (best Christmas present ever!)
Not my cup of tea.

I'm gonna be "that person" and say that I would not attend an Adele concert even if I got free tickets and was PAID to go. I don't like her at all. I just had to click into this thread to see how quickly they sold and what the terms were, for my own curiosity.

That is how I feel about Taylor Swift. :lmao: I am not surprised Adele sold out so quickly, but it does frustrate me. It is too much work to get tickets to concerts now a days. I just wait until someone post highlights or the actual concert on youtube. I would love to support the artist, but not at the resale mark up.

I'd go if I got free tickets, but I'm not willing to pay even a reasonable amount ($100 or less) to see Adele. Seeing her on SNL a month ago was good enough for me.

I forgot about and missed the Adele special in early December.

I've got such great tickets for Christmas and can't go :(
I'm so disappointed for me and my daughters who walked through fire to get them.
