What an unbelievable night! My son, his fiancé and I were in Las Vegas over the weekend to see Adele at Caesar’s Palace on Saturday night. Wow! She is spectacular! One of the best concerts I have ever seen in my 72 years. And, I have been to a lot of concerts. My late husband was a professional musician, so music was a big part of our lives. I’ve seen the Beatles, Elvis, the Bee Gees, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor - the list goes on and on - including Andrea Bocelli. This was a night to remember!

If any of you have the opportunity to see Adele in person, do it!

And, to add to the fun, we had several celebrity sightings! Paul McCartney (the crowd erupted when he walked in shortly before the show started) was sitting directly in front of me about ten rows down! We also saw LeBron James, Jeff Bezos, Jon Bon Jovi, Martin Short and John Mellencamp. The Adele concert was clearly the place to be in Las Vegas on Saturday! 😁.

We took a red-eye home and got in at 7:00 a.m. this morning. Worth it!

I just had to share!

Wow, sounds like a fantastic night!! You were hobnobbing with the glitterati. ;)

But with all your concerts under your belt, that is quite the recommendation. :thumbsup2 I will check to see if she is performing for my upcoming visit. It's a weekday visit, so it may be dark.

Yes, we were rubbing elbows with the rich and famous! Ha!

The show is called “Weekends with Adele”. Only Friday and Saturday nights. I think her residency is over in November. She extended it once. Not sure if that will happen again. It is quite the show.

A bunch of the celebs were in town for the beginning of the U2 residency at the Sphere on Friday. While I cannot for the life of me understand how the business model of the Sphere will possibly work at this point. it is a shame you didn't get to experience a concert at the Sphere from what I've read. If they have succeeded in their mission to utilize the technology properly the venue should offer an incredible sound experience to go along with the visual spectacular.

Yeah we saw her back in Feb., the show was incredible! I love the small venue, such an intimate feel. Even my DH who was never a huge fan said she sure puts on one heck of a show! I don't recall seeing any other celebrities though lol.

I'm glad you had a great time although I am not sure how.

When an Adele song comes on the radio I have to change the station. All her songs make me depressed and want to poke myself in eye with an ice pick.

I'm afraid that if I was at a live concert I would end up seeking out a wood chipper to jump in.

How much were the tickets? LasVegas shows seem to be very pricey compared to other parts of the country.

We have tickets to see U2 at the sphere. Curious what you mean about the business model? Ticket prices are high, that's true, but we didn't pay as much as people do for acts like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, etc. I think the Sphere is the future of fully immersive live entertainment.

I have tickets for the first public showing of The Sphere Experience movie on October 6th.

I think before The Sphere started showing external images everyone thought it was just 2 billion wasted dollars.

Then after the outside imagery started being shown the sentiment about the possible success of The Sphere definitely started shifting. The plan is to sell advertising on the outside. I think there have been a few ads show already.

The initial reviews from the U2 concert have been very positive about the venue.

It is rumored that after the U2 residency is over, Harry Styles will have a run and then Phish.

The movie I am going to see in a few days does seem to be struggling to fill the theater with presales other then the October 6th showings. But perhaps if positive reviews come in from the movie, ticket sales will improve.

Well, it is rather difficult to continuously sell out a movie when a venue has 18,000 seats.

The outside demos were definitely intriguing -- but they don't directly generate revenue, much like Bellagio fountains. U2 is being paid 80 or 90-percent of the ticket revenue for their residency. Granted, that was to launch the venue, but what deals are other artists going to want to sign on? There will also be significant costs associated with acts coming in needing to have video images pre-produced in order to utilize the indoor video portions of the venue

$50 a ticket movie screenings every day the venue does not have live performances scheduled aren't going to fill seats and generate the $$$ to pay the bills. All the analyses I've seen regarding the Sphere financials don't bode well for a long-term sustainability. It's a shame because it definitely sounds like an interesting venue. My husband would happily pay three figures for a multi-hour tour with a deep dive into the technology of the whole thing. He would be attending solo because that detail would be lost on me. I would however like to experience a great concert with well prepared video components and audio tweaked to perfection.

My son would not tell me how much he spent on the tickets on Ticketmaster. He bought the tickets when they first went on sale months ago. I think there was some kind of Ticketmaster lottery. However, on Friday he said he could have sold them on Stub Hub for almost $6,000 each. 😳

ETA: I forgot to quote the question about the ticket cost.

And, this is what makes the world go round. 😁

Oh, seeing U2 at the Sphere had no appeal to me at all. I probably wouldn’t have gone if someone had offered me a ticket for free. 😜

I hear you. Not that I have an extreme dislike, but they're not an act I'd exactly seek out either. Like I said, I'm curious about the venue and I'd imagine that opening night had an extra special atmosphere. I'm sure I'll hear more about it soon. Someone we know is a "zealous" U2 fan and will be at their show later this week.

Off topic (sorry OP), I saw Talking Heads in concert exactly 40 years ago this Thursday. My daughter and I went to the remastered concert film from that tour this past weekend (“Stop Making Sense”). It was a blast reliving it with her.
