Never been myself but I also have family there, my auntie is about to fly out for a few months to see them again, I will try and find out her opinion on this airline if she;s flown it.

I hear it's lovely there. Read Bill Bryson's "Down Under", lots of info on Aussie, hilariously funny and I seem to recall he visits Adelaide.

I used to fly them quite often, but haven't in recent years.....
at the time that i flew them, they were wonderful....
i don't know if that's still true....

Singapore Airlines came 4th in the Worlds Best Airline ranking 2005 - so should be ok.

Singapore Airlines are definately one of the best! following cathay, qantas, and emirates

We went to Australia last November. We had a fantastic time. Flew with BA/Qantas who were great but flying from Manchester meant we had to stopover twice on the way out. I'm definately going to go with singapore airlines or emerites next time.

Singapore airport is a great place to pass the time if you have got a few hours layover. There are hundreds of shops and even a spa. You can even have a singapore cocktail at the bar! :goodvibes

Adelaide is nice. We couldn't believe how quiet it was on the Sunday we arrived. Rundle street is great for a nice meal lots of lovely coffee bars where you can sit outside watching the world go by. The botanical gardens are nice for a wander round also, we did this the day we arrived to try and stay awake to beat the jetlag! :bitelip:

Take the tram from the centre of Adelaide out to Glenelg on the coast - takes about 30mins. The walk along the beachfront is great. Loads of things going on down there. Supposed to be great weekend evenings but we weren't there at that time.

If you can plan time do the drive from Adelaide along the Great Ocean road. You will need at least 3 days to do it well one way. You can come back along an inland route that is also supposed to be great. The scenery is amazing :goodvibes It was one of the highlights of our trip. We took a helicopter tour also which was breathtaking.

I hope you have great time planning- i rearly enjoyed planning our trip. It made such a difference when we were there that i had lots of local info on the places we were going.

if i can help let me know- also look on tripadviser's forum for Oz- they gave me some good tips.

Enjoy ;)

I only fly Singapore Airlines from here given the choice (Air New Zealand are dreadful). I probably use them 6-8 flights a year. Some helpful tips - check in online so you can move your seat if you don't like it (and get to the airport later), you can do this up to 48 hours beforehand. If you can possibly fit it into your itinery, it's incredibly easy to break your journey at the airport hotel in Changi for a night - you don't need to go through customs or collect your bags so long as you're flying same airline within 24 hours and it just gives you a night's sleep to recharge from the flight. It's called the Ambassador Transit Hotel, you can stay in either terminal, there's a simple train that shuttles you about - and one of them has a pool. If you've got a longer stop over you can also use the pool or book a room for a few hours - I promise I don't work for them, I''m just there at least four times a year as well. In fact, that's how I know I'm going away - I arrive at the airport hotel, pick up my subway and a pot of Ben and Jerrys and I'm holiday!
