Addonitis Use Year importance

We just added a second contract with a different use year, I hope we didn’t make a mistake. We’ve been members for close to 20 years and we’re happy with our original purchase but we recently retired and our travel is changing. We were both teachers and only traveled in the summer due to school schedules and coaching. However, we’re now planning on taking two trips a year, one in the spring and one in October. Our original use year is December which will work nicely for a spring trip but we also want a fall trip and a December use year didn’t seem like the best choice since we’ll be outside of our banking window if we need to cancel.

Our plan is to use our original December use year for a spring trip and our new October use year for an October or November trip. Hopefully we won’t regret my decision because it’s a hassle with two use years. Thoughts?
Planning to use one UY for trips during certain months and the other for other months does make sense.

OP is planning to use all points together on a single trip every year. Having 2 UY does not make sense in that case.

I admittedly don't view it as a big deal but having mutliple use years is a pain if you can't keep proper track of your points.
Once a year vs multiple is a big factor!!
I now have only 2 use years, but one is for Grand California so it will never combine to use anywhere else so it’s fine, but having 2 use years for WDW points was a hassle, & I only go once a year.

I would NOT recommend more than one use year at the same resort other than 2 may be okay at Aulani. We had 3 of our resorts with 2 use years with all of them having one leg in December. In the processes of selling a grand Flo and buying another resale to match use years and just bought a Poly 100 direct to match use year and will be selling our resale poly. This will leave us with 2 use years at Aulani and 5 use years total. Having having use years big enough to stand on their own is key. Aulani had no problem spending points from 3 or 4 use years for a trip to burn off excess points over Christmas break. We will be keeping 2 on that one.

I love having 2 UY’s. June and October. I don’t see it as a hassle. (Despite the conventional wisdom on here). I wouldn’t do more than 2 but 2 for different type trips is perfect. Before having 2 I was considering off property or paying cash for summer travel since I had October which banks May 31. You have valid reasons to do it so I wouldn’t worry about it.
