So we have decided to add on after just becoming members in may. We are going direct because we want 80 pt at VGC which is so hard to come by especially one to match our feb use year.

For those of you DISers who have added on at VGC how long were you on the wait list before you got your points? Guide said some people have been on the wait list for over a year. I'm going to watch the resale sites to see if my UY ever becomes available and if it can be had a savings from Disney after closing costs we will try to snap it up. If its only the difference of $10 per pt we would like the option of the Disney and concierge collection since our other points are restricted through resale.

I've been on 4 months for 65 pts March year and not a peep.

Sorry, slightly off topic. I'm fighting VGC addonitis this week too when I saw a listing for 400 points with 400 banked points for a total of 800 points!!! It's all I can do not to pull the trigger, mainly because I'm pretty sure it'll get ROFR considering how valuable VGC is. On the other hand, maybe one of us should get it submitted so Disney could ROFR it, divide up the points and make some waitlist dreams come true. :)

TTS posted two listings this week, each for 500 points with another 500 banked, for $88/point.

One has already sold.

I really wonder if Disney would let these pass at that low a price point. It's a lot of points to a person like me, but as you say, Disney could snatch those easily and resell them at $130, which I believe is the price right now for VGC direct.

Oh man, what a crazy deal. Those prices are better than BLT. I can't imagine Disney NOT taking those back. Considering how long the wait list appears to be. I bet Disney is hoping someone, anyone, will make an offer just so they can process those beauties.

I know it seems like a lot of points but I was thinking of renting out all the 800 points (we already have our trip booked for this year on other points) on the contract we were looking at. That would be at least $8,000-10,400 ($10-$13 per point) to put towards the buying price. Plus to have the 11 month window for VGC, I'm feeling "itchy". UGH! Someone, please take my laptop away from me. Better yet, someone disable my internet connection. PLEASE!

Sorry for the brief hijack the thread PrincessC. But hopefully there will soon be VGC points available for you, lol!

I saw those contracts too and had the same idea ... if I could just rent those out I could own more points at my beautiful home and be able to stay even longer every year .... One of these years ...

We haven't had the urge to add on at VGC yet. But we are staying there the first week of November, so after that all bets are off! It looks amazing tho.

Hope your wait list comes thru quickly.

It's very dangerous! I have addonitis for VGC since I went to DLR last June, and I even did not stay at the VGC (it was a last minute trip)!
:rotfl2:

I went on the wait list for 200 VGC points in a June UY starting mid June and got a call that 250 points were available the end of July. I was in shock and not ready. I had expected a 6 month wait and financially wasn't ready so soon. I had just closed on my Aulani purchase at the beginning of July. I turned it down. So it can happen faster than they say.

ETA: I took myself off the wait list. I didn't want up face another offer again before I was ready.

Thanks for all the input. We are going to DL in October and are staying at GCH on my in laws dvc points through the Disney collection. We love that hotel it had a special place in my heart as we honeymooned there in 2001 when it first opened. We probably won't get back there for another three years but I want the point in hand for when we do. I'm really surprised any of them are passing ROFR the way Disney describes their wait list.

That is about what we originally bought our points for back in 2009 direct from Disney so I wouldn't call it a crazy deal.

ALOHA taaren! Good to see you.

You guys have it bad:cheer2:
Haha Doug, that's funny coming from you Mister Practically Owns Half of DVC But Is Still Looking. ;)

Yes, but it's now 2012.

Disney let my recent resale purchases through. 107 points (with all 2011 points) at $90 and 250 points (with half 2011 points) at $88. Neither were quite as good a deal as the 500 point contracts, but Disney seems less inclined to ROFR Grand Californian at this time.

Well, they need to get over that, because I'd really like those extra 65 points :)
