Thanks in advance for letting me tap your knowledge!

On a rental car from National does the additional driver HAVE to live in the same house? My hubby and father in law wan to split the driving but it is silly for us to have 2 cars the entire vacation.

Also can you have an additional driver for just part of the trip. (They are staying 6 days longer than us.) (We don't want to pay for 6 days that only one person would be driving)

Thanks!

No, the additional driver does not need to live the same house (I've done it a few times with people who live at a different address).

No, you cannot pick and choose the days that have an extra driver.

You can add the additional driver for only the end of the trip, but you have to go to a rental car location to do so. My parents did this with National in LIH last year whe my parents arrived a few daas before my brother. -- Suzanne

From the National site:

"Authorized Drivers - Free (in the United States and Canada) - An Emerald Club member's spouse, immediate family member living with him/her, business partner, employer, or fellow associate who has an assigned corporate contract with National and drives the car for business purposes. All other additional authorized driver situations are subject to a daily charge."

If you're paying for an additional driver it can be anyone.
If it's the authorized driver from the Emerald Club it has to be in the same house unless it's a business partner/employee etc for business.
Also if you use the Orlando Magic Card code for Thrifty the additional driver is free but I've heard it's for full size and up.
