Additional driver - any companies offer this for free?

Just curious if any of the car rental companies do not charge for the additional driver? I thought I something about Alamo not charging if both members are Alamo Insiders. If that is true how do you prove that both are Alamo insiders

I read that as long as the person renting is an Alamo Insider you can add another driver on for free. You just can't use the quick kiosk, you have to check in at the desk. I read it last night, but I forget where.

Th last time (April 2013) we used AAA with Hertz and both drivers are AAA members, the additional driver was free.

Insiders can have a free add. driver and they CAN use the kiosk. You might also be able to do online checkin. The add. driver needs to have a valid license and be present when you exit the garage as the exit agent has to check both licenses and your credit card. The print out from the kiosk will tell you what is required at the bottom of the slip.

Only one has to be an Insider member.

Is it like that at the Orlando Airport or just the car car center? We never rented a car at Disney before, but we are going to see the WWOHP this time so we are getting one for a couple of days.

I can only speak for MCO as I never worked at the CCC. At MCO, you can check in at the kiosk or online. I would imagine that you can do the same at the CCC, but, you end up at the counter anyway because they have the keys to the cars. The parking lot there is not secure, so, they don't leave the keys in the cars like they do at MCO.

With very specific limitations. It is not quite as liberal as Alamo's Insiders.

Emerald Club: Authorized Drivers

Automatic Authorized Drivers

In the United States and Canada, there is no fee for an Emerald Club member's spouse or immediate family member.

Note: Immediate family is a Mother/Father, Son/Daughter, or Brother/Sister who has the same address on their driver's license as the Emerald Club member. This includes a spouse regardless of whether he/she has the same last name, is a common law spouse or same gender domestic partner.
In the United States and Canada, there is no fee on commercial rentals for an Emerald Club member's business partner, employer or fellow associate, who has an assigned corporate contract with National and drives the car for business purposes.

All other additional authorized driver situations are subject to a daily charge.

Additional Drivers - United States and Canada

Can there be an additional driver on the contract?



Additional drivers are allowed with the following criteria being met:
•All additional drivers must meet the locations renter requirements.
•Additional drivers must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter.
•Additional drivers must present a valid driver's license.
•Additional drivers must present a major credit card in their name at the time of rental, or meet the locations cash qualifications requirements.
•An additional daily fee will apply for additional drivers.
•Additional drivers will be added at the rental location.

How much is the fee for an additional driver?

This fee will vary by regions but "typically" averages $10.00 per day per additional driver and applies to any additional driver except the following:
•There is no additional driver fee in the US or Canada for authorized drivers. Authorized drivers would be a spouse or domestic partner (either same or opposite sex) who meets the locations rental requirements.
•There is no additional fee in the US or Canada for one surrogate driver for a mobility impaired renter.

Note: State law in California ,Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, and Wisconsin allow the spouse to be an automatic authorized driver under all circumstances.

In order to determine the exact fee you will need to select a location and the dates for your rental on enterprise.com (Note: May go to a non mobile page).

Just a FYI, Enterprise, Alamo and National are all owned by Enterprise Holdings, INC.

Avis and Budget doesn't charge Additional Driver fees for:

- Spouses
- Domestic Partners
- USAA Members (on USAA rate - Additional Drivers in same household as renter)
- AARP Members (one free Additional Driver)
- Costco Members (one free Additional Driver)

Oh, thanks so much for the info. We are renting from MCO and returning to CCC so it should work out perfectly for us. I have only priced it out so far, I haven't booked it yet. I assume when I get further into the process it will ask me to the 2nd driver's info.

Oh, another question. Where do you add the extra driver? I reserved a car under my hubby's name as an Insider with Alamo, but I didn't notice a place to add the info for a second driver.

You can get a free driver who lives in the same address as the driver. You can check in on line and you can pick up via the kiosk
