ive gone round and round and can't figure out the right answer.

Our tickets are being paid for by a third party. If I want to add the dining plan to a room only reservation, do I need to buy the room through Disney or can I buy through a third party seller?

(I know most of the time the Dining plan isn't a great deal, but we have 4 kids and would like to do multiple character meals.) And is it true my 9yo will be able to order adult QS meals with her child credits?

I’m not 100% but I think you can only purchase DDP through Disney. Yes 9 year old can get adult QS meals. When our kids were 7-9 we paid a minimal upgrade fee to classify them as Disney adults for the DDP which helped at TS restaurants. They have always liked steak, sushi etc and had more options that way.

If you want to do the dining plan, you'll have to get your room through Disney. Since you already have tickets, you'll need a "ticketless package" and that can ONLY be done by calling; you cannot do it online.

This really only works with free dining, otherwise, you're paying adult ticket price AND adult dining plan prices which are substantially more than the kid's price.

The difference in price between the adult and kids' dining plan is around $50 a day. We have a 2yo who will be eating enough to buy food for him too, so at TS places we can always buy hers out of pocket and order the child meal for him.

The dining plan can only be purchase as a package.
With tickets purchased through a 3rd party you don't have a package.
There is an option to do a "ticketless package" (you'd be booking a room and dining plan and then using the 3rd party tickets) but you must call and ask for this option direcly from Disney.

Oh oops, good point! You’re right we had free dining during those times. Sorry about that.
