So as of right now we have the Disney quick service for the free dinning package and we leave in 11 days. Do you think I should up it to the deluxe instead and not have the quick service?

Do you mean the regular dining plan or the deluxe dining plan? The regular dining plan include a quick service meal, TS meal and one snack. The deluxe dining plan includes 3 TS meals, two snacks and a refillable mug. The deluxe is a LOT of food (that's coming from big guy who can eat). If you like to do the signature restaurants which take two TS credit then that would help a bit. In any case you'd probably be hard pressed to get the ADRs for 3 TS meals per day at 11 days out (but then again I've never gone in late August). I like the flexibility of the regular dining plan myself since the QS meals tend to get a bit repetitive.

Yes sorry I meant the regular with the TS and QS. We have done it the last two times we went but I always felt like we were on a tight schedule. So i thought this year we would try the counter service one and just be able to eat where we want. Im just not sure what to do?!

If I tried to do a vacation where EVERY meal involved grabbing a tray, placing an order at a cash register station, walking a line to pick up pre-made salads and desserts, where all condiments come from packets or pump dispensers, and then having to play musical chairs to find a place to sit, my family would kill me in my sleep. And I'd deserve it.

Made me laugh!

I love Disney but now I enjoy the sit down time to relax at lunch & supper at TS. I don't care if I'm missing ride time...I enjoy the slower side of Disney too & when it is bitter cold or blazing hot a time out in a restaurant with iced tea & service is the life for me!

I'm trying to decide the same thing right now. Does anyone know financially if it's worth it to upgrade to th one that includes a TS dinner?

I know that for me the $$ is the deciding factor. I've tried to mathmatically figure it out, but with the price quotes I'm getting something is just not right.

We leave Sept 6 and after a great deal of back and forth debating, we decided to upgrade our free dining from the quick service to the regular dining plan. With a 7 night stay, 2 adults,1 (10 year old) adult and 1 child, it was only $230 more. We had planned 3 out of pocket dinners anyways and upgrading our dining plan made the most sense. Our 3 meals (1 character meal and 2 others) would have cost us about the same if not a little bit more so financially it just made sense.

:lmao:

There is nothing worse than trying to decide where to eat, then standing in a long line, finally getting your food and look around and not be able to find a table, end up sitting on a wall in Epcot by the water, with seagulls eyeing your food about to attack any minute.

Never again.

If at all possible I would upgrade the dining plan and do at least 1 TS a day, sitting in the A/C is worth the price when it is hot and humid.

I just cant decide im worried that they will charge me a 50 fee since we are only 11 days out! And I kinda like having the two snacks a day and the mug but Idk.

I believe the cost to upgrade from QS to DDP is around $10 a day for Adults and $0 to upgrade a Child per day

If the cost of your package increases there in no fee charged. Only time you incur a change fee of $50 is when you make a change resulting in the total cost of your reservation/package decreases

Your biggest consideration at this point is whether or not you can even get any ADR's where you would want to eat if you upgrade. I bet you can't. Folks make ADR's 180 days in advance. It makes no sense to upgrade to a plan that you can not use the benefits for.
Check on line and see what is available first.
Good Luck

Our next trip will be at POP so we got the QSDP for free. At first we were going to upgrade but then decided not to. It would have cost us $180 to upgrade (2 people x$10/night x 9 nights). I figured that we could eat 3 TS meals with that $180, but because we'd pay cash, I could order the way I like to eat (appetizer, salad, dessert) instead of the way the DDP says I have to. Plus, we still get 2 CS meals a day as well as 2 snacks. There are a lot of interesting CS places and we will have 36 snack credits that we can use at the F&W Festival. I'm excited to try the QSDP for the first time.

3 TS meals in 10 nights would not be enough for us. I am glad it works for you

deluxe is a LOT of food which takes a LOT of time....so if you and your group are foodies...like to eat and eat and eat...and spend hours.....well okay otherwise Id do basic, we like one sit down dinner a day and that works for us...have never done quick serve, tho with cutting back on all the meals, we just may try that once......have a great trip whatever you decide

I would definitely upgrade but ONLY if you can get ADRs for the restaurants you want.

We upgrade to MYWD then have 1 TS 1 CS and snacks. we like to use for character breakfast and like to eat steak and lobster as well. deluxe is a lot of food and we are big eaters. If you want to do some dinner shows then that would take 2TS each say like Hoop de Do or do signature dining takes 2 TS so can use them that way but we still had to many so have went back to the MYWD:thumbsup2

I think we are just going to stick with our original plan. Its not like it will be my last time down there.lol So id like to try it once and see how it works if we dont like it at least i know for next time but thank you all for your advice! Only 11 more days I cant freaking wait!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I had plans to book at POP with free QS but upgrade to the regular plan. However when comparing the cost of this with the cost of booking a moderate hotel (POFQ) instead (which comes with already with the regular plan) I found out it will only cost me $50 more to stay at the moderate, so that's what we've gone for instead considering the small price and my DH really wants access to a hot tub too, so there you go!

For me, If you really can't afford the upgrade and it's your only option to be able to goto WDW, definitely stick with the QS. But if you can afford it I definitely would. The TS meals are a large memorable part of my WDW trip experience.

I also determined that you could stay at a value for 7 nts with free QS for the same cost as staying at a moderate for 5 nights with the regular dining plan.

However, if you do change now, you probably will have to pay the fee. You can call and tell them what you want to do and if they will charge you for.

Good luck!!:thumbsup2
