Adding Small Contract

I'm considering adding a small contract (less than 50 points) so I can lump everything together for larger rooms (or longer vacations). Disney Direct has small contract possibilities at resorts other than my home, but the reality of using a small amount of points 11 months out is slim. Unfortunately, my home resort (CCV) and Riveria minimums are a little more than my budget since DVC requires a minimum of 50 points to add on. DVC will match my use year with my current contract and give me points from the previous use year to bank.

I was wondering if anyone finds it difficult to get a 2-Bedroom 7 months out? I know it's a loaded question, but just curious.

If you book right at 7 months and can be flexible on when you travel you will probably have decent odds of finding a 2BR somewhere. OKW, SSR and AKV will probably be the resorts with the best odds of having something available.

With that said, I've always followed the advice of only buying somewhere that you don't mind staying. The downside of buying a small contract at another resort is that you'll never be able to use those points at CCV or RIV during the 7-11 month booking window. And if you want to travel during peak DVC times or can't be flexible on your travel dates you might find it hard to use that small contract if you like 2BR size rooms.

You can check to see what's available at 7 months, that would give you some idea. It's harder at many times of the year though.

I have been watching availability for Feb break next year that’s coming up and it’s still been pretty decent and that’s theoretically a busier time. Once you get past that though it gets much slimmer. Meaning if you don’t book right at seven it’s more than likely OKW, SS, or AKL that will be available
