Adding person to reservation-California Grill?

Has anyone ever had any success adding someone to a reservation last minute at the California Grill?
We have 2 reservations- one for 5:15 pm for 3 and one for 6:50 for 2. We really need that 6:50 to be for 3 people. Is there any way they would accommodate us day of?

They might. They might not.

It really depends on whether they have a 2 top table they planned on putting you at. Or whether a larger party shows up missing a person or two.

You need to keep checking ahead of time to see if the 3rd person can be added. Showing up with an extra is a bad idea, and should be your very last resort. There is always a chance the extra will be turned away.

Your birthday won't help at all. Tons of people are celebrating something. Showing up early might help. Keep in mind CG is one of the top 10, if not top 5 table service restaurants, so they may be full and not be able to accommodate you.

Agreed. Sorry, your birthday won't be any help. Without a reservation for your whole party, don't expect to be accommodated.

I agree too. Thinking your birthday will matter is almost comical. Everyone is celebrating at Disney

My friend had 2 reservations for 2 at CRT at different times for their 25th anniversary. She kept looking and couldn't find anything for 4. She showed up and asked if they could seat them together and was told no. In spite of a 25th anniversary.

Keep trying. With CC guarantee, people do cancel. Watch for larger ADRs as you are not penalized for showing up short 1 or 2 people.

It will not so do not plan to use that as your plea. You may be very disappointed and forced to make a difficult choice: keep the ADR for 2 and one of you leaves, or cancel it and pay the no show fee. CG is not the easiest place to add on. WE had an ADR for 7, but wanted to change it to one for 8. WE were staying CL and while they gave it a valiant effort for weeks, they were not able to help, and they also suggested that we don't try adding at the podium. In our case, that was probably not going to happen.

Keep checking and you may get lucky, but please do not get your hopes up that a celebration will move the CM. AS others have pointed out, celebrations are only special to those celebrateing, and there are a lot of people doing that.
