Adding park hopper vs. adding another day

Hi all,

We had purchased 10-day water parks & more tickets for our trip back in January. We are now planning to go back in February. We still have 3 days of 'major' park days and 2 water park/DQ days left. We wanted to visit AK just to go on Expedition Everest and the Safari.

Would it be cheaper for us to add the park hopper to our remaining days or to buy an additional day? I know we can't do two major parks in one day, but could we do Disney Quest and AK in the same day?

Any advice/thoughts?

Thanks!

Adding the HOPPER option is a flat $40 (roughly) per ticket (not per DAY, per Ticket).
$40 per person will certainly cost less than buying each person another single day admission ticket (you can't "add a day" to a 10 MYW ticket),
but if you DID buy a single admission... you'd get another full day's admission (no duh!)
So you can do the math.

And yes, you can do DQ and DAK on the same day.
But you don't need a HOPPER just to do this.

You may not use or burn or forfeit an additional day off of the same multi-day non-hopping pass to go to a different theme park on the same calendar day. You must have hopping (or use a separate ticket on a different card that costs a lot more)

YOu do not need hopping to go to more than one minor park or to go to one theme park and one or more minor parks using the same ticket with water park fun. You will consume the same number of admissions with or without hopping. (Animal Kingdom and Disney Quest on the same calendar day uses up one day and one plus off of the ticket)

Just subscribing.

I think you can only upgrade a ticket during the first 14 days so you can't upgrade these tickets to a hopper anyway.

You can not add more than 10 days to any pass - if you have already purchased 10 day tickets they can not be upgraded any further.

Since a Hopper option is the same price, regardless of number of days on the tix or when you choose to purchase it during a trip,

and since NON-EXPIRING Tix don't have a "14-day limit" on any of their features (once they are made non-expiring), I don't think there is a 14-day restriction on buying a Hopper option.

I'm not sure about that. It is not the way allears reads. It says all upgrades must be within the 14 days.

This is a good place to look:

This is what it says...

ADDING ON OPTIONS TO MYW TICKETS

Disney allows you to add on any of the available ticket options to an already purchased or even a used MYW ticket. The add ons available are the Park Hopper option allowing visiting multiple parks on the same day, the Water Park Fun & More option which gives a varying number of visits to the water parks, DQ, PI, or WWoS, and the non expiration option which will make all your unused admissions, both theme park and plus option, never expire.

These add ons are done on a fixed cost basis. That means if you have a 7 day MYW Base ticket and you decide to add the park hopper add on for the last three admissions remaining on the ticket, you will pay the full $40 + tax to do it, not a prorated amount. This holds true for all of the add ons. They are all a fixed price based on the original length of the MYW ticket, not what's left unused when you do the transaction.

In all cases, these add ons must be done within 14 days of the first use of the ticket. You can even have used park admissions before doing the add on. The add ons can be done at any Guest Relations location at the theme parks or at DTD as well as at any Lobby Concierge location at a Disney resort. Note that Lobby Concierge cannot do any transactions involving AP/PAP/SP's.

But, since I have not read this anywhere else (regarding Hopper option), I still don't think it applies to the Hopper Option.

Yikes...AllEars has updated their ticket page considerably since I did all this research for the January trip. It does sound as if I won't be able to add the park hopper on to these tickets, but I might be able to apply the 'dollar credit' to a new ticket??? Maybe???

But then the REAL question becomes...is Expedition Everest really worth the extra expense? :confused3 The kids wanted to go to the other three parks instead of AK.
