Adding Park Hopper on Last Day?

I apologize if this has been asked before. I searched for other threads but couldn't find anything that answered my specific question and was up-to-date.

Some friends and I will be in WDW in February for PHM weekend and two of us need to buy tickets. My plan was to buy a 4 Day Park Hopper, even though we probably will only use the hopper on our last day. (The other days will mostly be spent doing race prep/race/race recovery.) My friend asked if she could buy a standard 4 day "Magic Your Way" ticket and then add the hopper for the last day only. I know that she can add the hopper, but I can't seem to figure out if it will actually save her any money.

If she adds the hopper to just our last day, does she end up paying the full cost of upgrading a 4 day pass, or is it less because she's only using it for one day?

The hopper costs the same, regardless of when you buy it.

Not entirely true.

Park hopping is a flat rate of $53.25 for add-on to a 1 day Magic Kingdom ticket; $61.77 for add-on to a 1 day Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom ticket; $53.25 for add-on to 2 or 3 day tickets; or $68.16 for add-on to any 4-day or longer ticket.

But it costs the full park hopping cost for your ticket whether you have 1 day or 6 days left.
