My sons GF has decided to come for a few days she technically will be with us for 1 night at BWV does it matter with park tickets I can just get her a 1 day or 2 dayticket what about the DDP just have her pay OOP Thanks

When you put her on the reservation, and have the DDP, you will pay for the plan for her for your whole stay. You could use "her" credits to do some signature meals when she's not there.

Is this your reservation or did you rent a reservation from a member? If you are not the member, the member you rented from will need to add her to the reservation.

If you are the member, you need to add her to the reservation at least 3-4 days ahead of time.

If you paid cash through CRO, you need to contact CRO and see what they say.

I am renting from someone, so why do I have to get her the DxDDP I am not going to pay 700.00 for her for the one night she stays with us. Do I technically have to even say she is there if she is just sleeping for 1 night??? She can pay out of pocket.
I guess I will call the person I rented the 6 days from and find out from them.
Thanks

I apologize for hijacking this thread, but I also didn't want to create a duplicate. In reference to the quote above, I have a question.

I have a GV booked for next week, only 8 adults and an infant are staying, not on the DDP as we plan to cook at home most days. One of the guests I'm bringing with me is my DB best friend. His DS lives in Miami and was thinking of driving in for a day in the parks with us, then I was going to allow her to crash on the couch and then she would be leaving the next morning. Now, she isn't sure if she will make it and may not know until the day she plans to come visit. If I go to the frt desk and have her added to our room for one night only, is that a problem or is it doable? I obviously don't want to do anything backhanded or wrong. Maybe I should just call ahead of time and just add her anyway? Thanks for any answer you can give me on this situation!

The rules of DVC say that every person who is sleeping at the unit must be on the reservation by name, and that you cannot go over the stated occupancy of the unit. The rules of getting the Dining Plan say that every person on the reservation must have the Dining Plan for every night of the reservation. If your son's girlfriend is coming for one night, you will have to have the member add her name to the reservation for that night - but if you don't add her to the reservation for the other nights and pay for her to have the Dining Plan for all of those nights, you won't be able to get the Dining Plan for anyone else in your party.

The rules are set to keep people from doing exactly what you want to do - pick and choose which people get the Dining Plan. Because the Dining Plan usually represents a significant savings over paying out of pocket, it's a benefit that only makes sense for Disney if it's spread out over several days - so that Disney has a chance to make it up on other spending you will be likely to do over the course of your vacation in the parks.. That's also why you can't just get the Dining Plan for 3 nights and pay out of pocket for the other three, for example. Its all or nothing.

Sorry it won't work out for you.

Since you have a Grand Villa and only 8 people, just go ahead and add her for the whole time when you check in, and get a key for her. You'll have it if you need it, and if not no one will know or ask about it. Since you're not on the Dining Plan, it doesn't matter.

We went over Spring Break and a mom of my daughter's friend didn't know if she could join us for all or part of the trip. I just added her name to the whole reservation and got a key in her name - it stayed in my wallet the whole week because she ended up not being able to come, but we didn't have to worry if she had been able to get there.

You are still well within the occupancy levels, so I wouldn't worry about it. Since you do not have the DDP, there is nothing to worry about other than getting her a key for the room for that one night, and that is easy, since you are under the occupancy rules.

But what if the rest of us that will be there the whole week want the DxDDP
why should I get it for her for 1 night that she may come down.Do I have to if so I may just tell my son forget it. unless he wants to pay the 700.00 for her alone

Yes, you would be required to add her to the DDP for your entire trip. I do know this much. It sucks and many people don't agree with it but that's the rules. She'd be better off to try to find a hotel right outside of WDW or even try to locate a room at one of the values then just meet up with your son for the day.

Ladyisatramp, I know it would be nice if you could add an extra person to your reservation and add the Dining Plan for a night or two. It would also be nice if you could have 4 nights of the Dining Plan for a 6 night vacation - that's what would really have worked best for us on our last WDW trip.

But the rules say that if you are going to do the Dining Plan, every person registered must be registered for the same length of stay, and you must buy it for all of the nights of the reservation. To answer your question, yes, you have to. Unless you want to just sneak her into your room - but if MS finds out about that they may ask you to leave the resort. And as a renter I think that would be a chance I wouldn't be willing to take. Remember, everything has to be done through your owner, and once you are there you are not going to be able to simply go to the front desk and have things changed around to suit you. You will have to get back in contact with the member and he/she will be the only one who can make any changes.

In your case I would tell your son that it won't work out for her to stay with you, and I would suggest she make her own hotel arrangements and just meet up with you at the park.

Requiring it for all nights and for all persons in the room is how Disney makes money on the DDP. I don't think it would be profitable if you could pick and choose. If you could, only the big eaters in the family would buy it and the others would not. Or just buy it for a couple nights when you plan to eat big and not for the rest. By requiring it for all nights and all people, it puts more money into the "bank", enough to cover the total cost.

If she shows up just let her stay if she can.

Thanks for the input, I am really not trying to get away with anything I am paying for the DxDDP plan for the 5 of us for 6 days. She would only be coming down for 1 night thats ridiculous to have to pay for a dining plan for her for 1 night.

That may be. But the rules are that every guest must be registered and pay for the dining plan for the entire length of stay. Sorry.

I think we should just lighten up a little with the rigid rule following. As long as you aren't gong over the maximum # of people in the room, let the girl spend the night and don't worry about adding her on.

A bedtime story for newbies:

A few years back, DVC folks were asking for a Dining Plan. And we asked and we asked and we asked. Finally the great day came - DVC worked out a plan with Disney to do this for us.

BUT...they said this is how it has to be if we allow you to do this. And all the DVC people said SURE. We just want a Dining Plan!

Well, now we have one. But if enough of us don't adhere to the rules - a few times here, a few there - DVC will no longer have a Dining Plan. Because Disney didn't really want to give us one to start with.

Meaning: What the Great Mouse giveth, The Great Mouse can take away. Don't give him the excuse to do so.

DisFlan

I totaly agree with the above comment. I would hate to see the Dining Plan gone because renters think they can get around the rules. It is us DVC members that have to pay the fees. Renters should stick to the rules or just not rent and book rooms through Disney.
