Adding on?

What is this concept of adding on about? From the sound of it, I gather that a current DVC member buys points at another DVC resort and now has a second home. Is this correct? Is it the same process as the original membership with closing costs and the higher startup cost? Or, are you just paying at the lower rate per point?

Members can add on at any of the DVC resorts. Some add on at new resorts to have two home resorts, but others just add on more points at their current home resort so they have more points.

You can add on with a minimum of 25 points. If you want to finance, then you need to add on with at least 50 points. There are no closing costs for members adding on through Disney. When you add on, they will give you the new points with the same UY as your current contract.

Right now, there are no incentives for add ons that are less than 100 points. At the 100 point level, you can get a $5.00 discount at BLT, and a $6.25 discount at AKL and SSR, of the $112/ppt price. In addition, they are offering a 3 day cruise for 100 point add ons (longer cruises for additional points).
