If I have 100 points at BCV and I want to add 50 at VGF or Poly or whatever, wouldn’t I want to add a different use year so that I could transfer once a year from our original contract? It sounds like adding the same use year means having to wait until month 7 to combine, whereas having different use years allows you the transfer?

Transferred points would still keep their home priority so even if you transferred before 7 months you wouldn't be able to combine them.

If you did that and were going to transfer then you'd always have to be calling in to use the points as they will not show up online once you transfer. As mentioned, they keep their home resort status so it's still going to be 7 months before you could use them at a non-home resort together. Or to use from VGF to book at BCV or vice versa - use the BCV points to book at VGF. Keeping the same use year will simplify things.

If you keep the same UY both contracts will appear together on your DVC member desktop when you make online reservations, and you'll be able to use points from both contracts very easily at the 7 month mark. As PPs have said, if they're from different resorts you won't be able to combine them until then, so there's no benefit to different UY in that case. Some members find it helpful to have different UY for different uses, for example an October UY at resort A for trips that will always be in winter, a June UY at resort B for trips that will always be in summer, but if your routine plans are to combine points from two different home resorts then it's much easier for them to be the same UY.

Thanks, everyone. If you buy a resale contract and attach it to a current contract (with same title and use year) will you still keep the blue card benefits of the old contract?
