Adding on points with a different Use Year

We've got contracts with BLT and VGF and both have Dec Use Years. We just got back from a stay at Riviera and really enjoyed it. I've been thinking we might need some more points anyway so I'm strongly considering adding on 100 points at Riviera.

I'm just trying to think of the practical details now. If I add on that contract with the same Dec Use Year, won't that mean I'll immediately get 100 points that have to be used by December this year or lose them? We'll be past the banking window and won't be able to get back before December.

Should I try to get a different Use Year so that I can potentially use or bank the initial 100 points? Or will that become too complicated to keep track of while planning given my other 2 contracts are both December years? Any thoughts on this from people who have had similar experiences? Thanks.

They will let you bank those points even after the usual banking deadline has passed. We bought RIV in January with a Feb use year. We banked all of the 2020 points as soon as the contract loaded and we're using those this year and banking the 2021 points for next year.
KEEP YOUR DEC USE YEAR!

My understanding is that they won't let you have a different UY and the only way to get one is to buy resale. But, I am sure someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

You can purchase a different UY direct, but it will be a separate membership (applies to resale purchases also). You will also be required to purchase whatever the current new member minimum is.

Disney allows late banking with a direct purchase. Unless you have a reason why a Dec UY won’t work for your plans for these points, stick with one.

You can but it then has to be the minimum for a new buyer. It’s not an add on any longer.

So, right now, you have to buy 150 if you want a different UY buying direct. If you want less, then they will only sell the same one to you.

Thanks. I didn't even entertain going direct for my BVW Aug UY contract because I wasn't going to pay full price for 2042 contract and I wanted 75-100 points.

I have an August UY and got RIV direct a few weeks ago. They bank them for you, even if out of time
