Adding on points at a different DVC?

I did some searching and found back in 05 that ppl said you could only use the points you had bought at a specific DVC at that DVC with the 11mth window.

Is that still the case?

If I added on 30pts at AKV, I could only use 30pts for there at the 11mth window?

The 11 month to 7 month window is only for your home resort. At the 7 month mark, you can use your points at any of the DVC locations with
availability. Hope this clears things up!

well adding on would give us 2 home resorts but what I read (again posts from 2005) indicated that the points were treated seperately. What I've read here recently doesn't seem to indicate that is the case anymore but I wanted clarification.

Correct. If you added on 30 at AKV, you could only reserve 30 points worth of accommodations at the 11 month window at AKV. IMHO, it only makes sense to own at second resort if you plan to own enough points there to be able to book a vacation at that resort every other year.

Just wanted to add that with banking and borrowing you could have up to 90 points to make a reservation at the 11 month window every third year.

This is the way to maximize points with smaller add-ons. Of course at the 7 month window you can use any/all of your points at any DVC.
