Adding on before contract closes

So, here's something causing me some stress at the moment. I caught the DVC bug a few months ago and decided to pick up a resale contract. During the process as we all know takes time, contracts could be "taken", etc. the fever was hitting hard so I decided to go ahead and get a direct 150 RIV. This process was lightning fast and points loaded immediately. Since getting the direct contract, I have travelled to WDW and used my first years points as well as booked a quick trip in two weeks and a RIV trip for Oct 2022 with the 11 month window. I have since put in two accepted offers resale and they are pending ROFR. I gave the broker my DVC member number so they can add those contracts to my DVC membership if they pass ROFR and contracts become mine. While waiting on the two pending contracts, I decided I wanted more points. I wanted to add on 50 so I called a guide and got the process started yesterday. Here's the kicker, the guide said that since my original purchase has not "closed" yet ( I split the payments over my Disney Visa so final payment is coming out later this month) I still qualified for the original incentives and they would be doing a re-write and adding those 50 points to the original. After a few phone calls back and forth (this was her first re-write) the guide called back and told me points would be loaded very quickly. In my excitement, I checked my dashboard and OOPS, new member number with all 200 points loaded. But where are my deductions from my past trip and my upcoming reservations? not there because it is a new member number. I called the guide back and she did a quick chat with MS who I guess said it would all be worked out ( future reservations would be moved over to this membership - I don't know when). Until this resolves I obviously don't want to book anything as I'm afraid that will cause problems later. Also, I have those 2 resale contracts with a now outdated member number. not sure what to do. I'm trying to be patient as this all happened yesterday. maybe I should just call MS and be on forever hold today to try to get it worked out? Also, just want to make sure my trip in 2 weeks is still good to go. * I can no longer see my old member number or any associated activity. What would you do? serves me right for being greedy.

I would not worry about the resale until you are ready to close on those and can update the membership number at that time.

DVD will get it fixed by then!!

Give Disney a few days. Resale will be no problem. Just tell your title agent the updated stuff for close.

And WOW what a loophole for incentives!!!!! Sounds like the VISA stuff holds that pricing. Wild.

update, looks like the points are all good now. I can see my reservations and points deducted for the trip I took.

This, likely a manual transaction, they clean up within hours....... Other manual transactions - resale points loading, grandfathered resale status not showing properly in mobile wallet, borrowed point reservations not working, take weeks or still aren't fixed. So I guess any issue dealing with direct sales in like the Lightning Lane for MS and MA, and issues dealing with resale are like the standby line. I understand the mentality, but I struggle with the potential inappropriateness. If a department gets it's income and works for the sales group, I have no problem. (Moonlight magic and DVC lounge are paid out of the sales group), but MA and MS are paid out of the MF, not sales commission/profit, giving preference to point type seems to violate "spirit" if not "legality" of the POS. All MF are equal, and the salaries are paid equally by all points. Giving different levels of service to resale versus direct, for a department paid equally by both seems wrong. For departments funded by sales, I have no issue. But for departments funded by MF.......

What I was told is that while everyone is under MA for contracts, that there are different teams within MA that handle these. Some work on direct and some on resale and why there is a difference in timeline!!!

If MA is all paid for by dues, then I believe this is totally inappropriate and not in the interest of the owners. (once a department is funded by dues, all owners are equal)

DVD handles the sale, creation, and transfer of contracts…not DVC…and we do not fund DVD from our dues.
