Adding on a cruise are points available by end of cruise?

We are thinking of adding on when we go on the Dream or Wonder. When are the points available? End of the cruise?

I might depend on communications between the ship and shore. During our December cruise, we had satellite problems and the DVC Guides mentioned that they were on their own until after the cruise.

What disneynutz says makes sense. When sending emails while onboard ship, sometimes the connection is excellent and other times you just sit there thinking your message is going out and sometimes it does and other times it doesn't. And often you are just wasting internet minutes while the system decides.

I would think the CM's wouldn't want to risk it that only part of the purchase information is forwarded properly. Because of that I wouldn't be surprised on the short Caribbean cruises the information is not entered into the DVC computer system until they return to Florida and for longer cruises the CMs wait until a port of call is reached where they have a more stable connection to the DVC computers and credit card companies to confirm the downpayment or that payment is made in full.

We purchased right on the cruise. We could have purchased at the beginning, middle or end. There were no problems.

We have added on numerous times while on DCL. As previously mentioned we have experienced where they were able to close on the ship and points were there by the time we touched down on land. Other times they had to send the paperwork to us and we signed and closed after being back (they try their hardest to never go this way but it happened) and lastly we had where they had to finalize the transaction after they hit land and the points appear in just a short time after getting back.

They will work with you no matter which of those scenarios you fall into...they really have a way of making the pixie dust work when necessary. I would not worry...all works out at the end!! Good Luck...adding on while cruising is truly awesome!!! I would do it again in a minute and probably will...

I added 50 points for BLT on my Dream 3 day cruise in April. The incentives were so much better. I signed the forms to add on Thursday(4/28), deposit
was taken out on 5/2 and I used the points(banked,current and borrowed) to
sign up for a 2-day cruise on the Magic (6/15/12) for me and two kids on 5/5/11. The points were available right away! Problem is I wish I added more!!

Are the incentives different if you add on while on DCL??? We're cruising this summer and I might have to consider an add-on if that's the case.

Historically incentives during a cruise have been better than the ones at WDW. Good luck!
