Adding Old Tickets to MDE When Knowing Not Enough Days on Ticket for Full Trip

Hi. I am going on an 8 day trip in September staying at VGF.

I have old tickets that I THINK I know how many days are left on them although they do not cover the full 8 days I am going to be in the parks.
I know I need to buy more tickets but I would like to use up my old tickets first.

SO, my question is, if I add/link (whatever it is called) my old ticket to DME for my MB and there is one day left, what will happen when I purchase a new ticket? Can I add the new ticket to the same DME MB?
I plan on purchasing more tickets prior to my trip not when we arrive.

Also, is it correct that I cannot make my FP+ selections until I have all my days (meaning enough days on each ticket) on DME? If this is the case, I guess I need to purchase the tickets and receive prior to my being able to make my FP+ (whenever that day may be, I am not sure).

I also have a PAP, although no one else in my family does (I take trips with my mom without family sometimes) so I will be able to make ressies for me, but I cannot for my family until they have all their tickets. Is that also correct?

Also, I have very old 10 day non expiring passes where we use to get free WaterParks and More. I have four tickets with about 6 days each of Waterparks left on each ticket.
What should I do with them?

For the water park passes, you can keep them separate. There's nothing to gain but MDE screw-ups if you added them. Just use them as needed.

I would price out the cost of new tickets. Once you get past a certain amount of days, it's only $10 a day. It might be worth saving the nonexpiring tickets and buying 8 day new tickets. That would allow FPs to be booked too.

Then find out how many days are on the nonexpiring tickets and plan a trip with that amount of days at disney, some water parks and whatever else you might want to do in Orlando.

If that is the case, when/how can I use my old tickets? Won't they have to be added to a MB or can I just use them "as is".


My ds has a MB from a prior trip with my mom that has a day or so left on it. He will need more days and a new ticket. Would it be best to order a new ticket AND link a NEW MB?



Also, if I am going in September, how do I know when I get make my FP+ ressies. Is it on the little booklet Disney sent me? I need to look through it.

I was about to say the same thing. I would add, adding your existing theme park tickets to MDE will let you know how many days are left on the tickets. With Disney's current pricing structure, if you need to add more than 3 days to your tickets you are most likely better off using all new tickets and saving your existing tickets for a later vacation. The only exception to that would be if your existing tickets are Park Hoppers and you only plan on hopping 1 day. At that point, it may be better to use the old ticket for the day you plan on hopping and keep the new tickets as base tickets.

I went through a similar thing planning my next several vacations. I like both Universal and Disney and actually have some no expiration tickets for both chains. Instead of using them all up in 1 trip, I've decided to alternate between buying a new longer Disney ticket combined with 1 day off Universal ticket and long Universal ticket (and maybe Sea World and Busch Gardens) combined with 1 day off Disney ticket.

The one thing to watch out for, if you have multiple tickets linked to you MB, you need to make sure the priorities are set so you use the proper ticket for each trip.

In my case, I have 3 days left on my No Expiration Option Tickets. Based on current prices my options are.

1) Use each day 1 at a time combined with non-Disney activities the rest of the vacation. If I didn't have this ticket it would cost my $143 to do that each day. So at current prices I get $429 with of admission out of that ticket.

2) Use the 3 days for a 3 day trip. A new 3 day park hopping ticket costs $344

3) Use existing tickets as individual hopping days on longer WDW vacation with base tickets for the rest. Above 4 days, you're getting $74 benefit from buying 5 day base instead of 6 day hoppers. For all the days the $222.

4) Combining existing tickets with new tickets for entire vacation. If I'm going for 7 days, the difference between 4 day tickets and 7 day tickets are $32 or $96 if I don't get parkhopping on the new tickets.

Can you buy hopping separately? I am planning a 7 day trip - I have a 3 day park hopper and 4 single day tickets. I was adding them all to my magic band but I was wondering if I can buy park hopper capability for the 4 single day tickets or do I have to use them as 1 day tickets? If I can't buy park hopping for the single tickets how do I mix the 3 day park hoppers with the single tickets? Say I want to use a hopper day on day 1 and on day 2 & 3 I am not hopping but on day 4 I want to hop - how would / or could you do that?

I'd add them all and then just call guest services to make sure they're listed in your account in the priority you want to use them (and if that changes - make sure to mention it to cast member before you scan). Most of the problems you read about here from multiple tickets on the bands are from those who didn't realize you could set priorities or how it selected if you don't do it.

Nothing is actually added to your magic band. They are added to your My Disney Experience account. All the Magic Band does is provide a link to your My Disney Experience account. You can have multiple magic bands linked to your My Disney Experience account, I have several in different colors. They all work the same, a ticket is not linked to one particular band.

I would not call guest services, I would go to guest services to put a particular ticket as priority on the day I want to use it. This might mean multiple trips there over the course of the trip.

For this trip, without knowing everything about what sort of tickets you have or what sorts of trips you might take in the future, people are saying to at least think about leaving the old tickets sit for now, and just buying new. If you think you'll have a trip in the future that would use ONLY what you have left, financially it might be best to just buy new.

The MB has nothing on it but a link to MDE.

His ticket is on his MDE profile, and any MB that is linked to his profile will be able to link to the ticket.

Do you literally mean you have 4 separate one-day tickets? Or do you mean you have a 4 day one-park-per-day ticket?

Adding hopping to 4 separate one-day tickets would be very expensive.

Yeah - when I thought about it - the 64 per ticket was not feasible - I just decided it would be better to buy a new 7 day hopper and keep the 3 day hopper and single tickets for a future trip
