We bought resale in 2003 and were seriously considering adding our daughter's name to our contract. Is it possible we would lose our perks by going through this process? The legalese seems a little confusing to me and I'm not sure what Disney's role would be in this due to ROFR. I've seen the waiver form but it still seems a little vague to me.

Thanks

I wouldn't think that it should be a problem. Make sure that you know the legal aspects of making her an owner to your real estate. Check with Disney and get it in writing before you make the changes.

I'd ask but I can't imagine this would be a concern.

I called twice and both times they assured me that it would not change anything (I also have an adult daughter I want to add.)
They also gave me a title company to use but said I could use any one I want (the cast member said it could cost a few hundred dollars)

You can do it yourself for under $50 for one contract. With LT transfers it'll be in the range of $165 if it's WDW.

Hi Dean. How does one go about adding adult children to a contract themselves? If you don't mind sharing. I'm thinking of doing it to our first contract.
Thanks!

For WDW it's not that difficult. You get the transfer packet and send it in. They send you ROFR. You then need a new deed and the ROFR form recorded with OC (or wherever) and then send the recorded deed and second transfer form received with the ROFR back to DVC. $40 for one contract plus the deed price itself which you can get at Staples or similar or do online. The recording fee is $10 for page one and $8.50 for each additional page for each document. So a 2 pg deed and 2 page ROFR would be $37.70 (2*$10 + 2*$8.50 + minimum doc stamp of 70¢ IIRC and it hasn't changed recently. Just contact DVC to get started. For HH or HI, I'd use a service, likely LT transfers. I haven't investigated GCV or VB from this standpoint. Just make sure you understand the ramifications. I did this with our smaller contracts but not with all of them.
