Adding Maxpass to AP's/Customer service disappointment

The short version of my questions:
  1. Is there currently any way to add the $75 annual MaxPass to AP's other than going to the ticket booth? I haven't read of anything but wanted to double check.
  2. What time to ticket booths open if there is a 7am MM/EE?
  3. Can I handle this for my whole family without them being at the ticket booth?
Now for the disappointment with customer service...
I thought I would check with Disneyland on the first one since the procedure could change any day and I wanted the latest information. I tried calling. After being on hold for awhile I hung up and emailed. Below is the correspondence. This is my first experience sending an email. Do they always respond so poorly? It seems like they didn't even read my email. I'm pretty sure that most of the options they gave me for adding MP don't apply to upgrading an AP.

My email:
We purchased AP's in July, just a week or two before Maxpass started. We are thinking about adding the $75 annual Maxpass option to our AP's. Is the only way to do this is visit a ticket booth, or can we do it on the phone or the internet prior to arriving for our next trip? We only have a couple days on this trip and I don't want to miss our first morning rope drop.

If going to the ticket booth is the only option, can I handle the transaction for my entire family, or do they all need to be there?

We will be there on a Thursday where regular opening is 8am, but Magic Morning is 7am. What time will the ticket booths open that day?

The Response 5 days later:
Thank you for your email to the Disneyland® Resort.

You can buy Disney MaxPass online at Disneyland.com, at the box office, Guest Services Desks at Resort Hotels, Disney Desks at Good Neighbor Hotels, or via the Disneyland App. If you have already purchased your ticket, you can upgrade it the day of your visit to include Disney MaxPass via the Disneyland App (after entering a theme park), or by visiting the box office, Guest Services Desks or Disney Desks.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit the Disneyland® Resort soon and trust your visit will be pleasant in all regards.

There is another thread floating around today where someone was talking about adding MP to their AP. When at the ticket booth, the CM told them if they'd already bought MP that day, then their $10 could be put towards the upgrade cost. If I were you, I'd go straight for the parks & add the one day MP as soon as you enter the park. Take advantage of the lower morning crowd levels & your MP to get a bunch of stuff done. Then later in the day, when the ticket booth lines are shorter swing by to complete your upgrade.

This is how we did it. They had to get a supervisor to come and do the refund, and they had me pull up the confirmation email for the daily purchase, so it added some time to the process at that point, but it was still better than waiting in the morning!

How long do you think it will take if we do it without needing to get a refund? Is it an easy process?

I went to Guest Services to add MaxPass to my annual pass. It was done rather quickly. Can you do it the night before?

Friday 2017-09-29, I added MP to my AP over the phone.
This is the number I called 714-781-7277

My challenge was to use a $78 PP+ I had purchased online in May for our trip that starts today.
I had to pay the AP office $75 for MP to be added to my AP.
Then I had to call the number on the PP+ confirmation.
They looked up the transaction of the AP office and issued a refund for the PP+.
In the long run... I'm ahead $3.
That's not even a churro these days....

I was happy to not have to go to one of the ticket booths to take care of things.

Good Luck

Geemo

1.5 hours and were off to PDX to fly south for the week...... :jumping1:

Thank you for the replies. We'll be getting into Anaheim late on Wednesday and going to the parks starting Thursday. I don't think I'll have the energy to drag myself down there on Wednesday night. I'm definitely not taking all my kids down there so I was hoping I could handle it for all of us. I think I'll try calling. If that doesn't work, we'll get there early on Thursday. The family can get in line while I go to the ticket booth and then I can meet up with them. If the process is quick I should be done before they open the gates for regular entry.

I went to Guest Services to add MaxPass to my annual pass.
Where is guest services? Is it outside the parks? We don't normally have problems so I've never needed to find it.

Thank you. I'll give it a try!

Guest Services is circled in the pic below. The entrance to Disneyland is at top, entrance to California Adventure is at bottom, and the eight ticket booths are between the parks.

I think it was less than 15 minutes for us even with the refund part. Under 10 without it, probably... we were doing two passes.

Sometimes there are long lines in the morning (there were that day), which is why we did it that way. If you have 10-15 minutes in the morning and there's not a wait, I'm sure you'd be fine. Or just add the daily pass in-park and do it later with the refund. Neither way is terribly difficult!

I don't think you can purchase an ap at the hotels but I could be wrong on that one. Hopefully someone has a firm answer for you. I just recall it took a long time to get the ap from the ticket booth

Yes, it does! That is why I was hoping we could do it at the hotel instead.

Just want to verify I have my facts straight. We plan to get hoppers and go 1/2/18. We will purchase max pass for the first day at $10 pp. At the end of the 1st day (which is a deluxe black out day), we will upgrade to a deluxe ap and add the annual max pass.

The cost of our hoppers will be applied to our AP AND the $10 per person we already paid for the max pass will be applied to the max pass upgrade.

Correct?

The cost of the hoppers should be applied to your AP, but not sure about the $10 you spend on Maxpass while you have PH tickets. I believe that everyone who had the $10 applied to the $75 upgrade already had AP's.
