Adding HHI and VB to a WDW holiday

I am a DVC member with home resort OKW, and on my next trip to WDW I am thinking of adding a couple of nights before or after at VB and/or HHI to see what they are like and have a change of pace.
Is there any problem with availability for either at the 7 month mark between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and if so are there any room types that are easier to get than others (thinking of DI room at VB and 1b/2b at HHI).

I think that would be very enjoyable.

Hilton Head is lovely, but quite a drive from WDW. We stayed there right after Thanksgiving in 2006 and had a limited selection of rooms using points but was able to get something. We've also combined points with cash discount reservations. Studios at HH are $81US on the DVC cash rate. Its a little cold to swim at HH in November but the beach is lovely and peaceful with no one there. Some people find it awkward that the resort is separated from the beach house, but I think it really gives you a bonus of marsh/wetlands and beach. (Usually--I think you would only get one or the other.) HH is also a major golf and tennis destination.

Savannah Georgia is a lovely small city to visit while visiting Hilton Head Island. The streets are lined with 300 year old oak trees that provide a canopy. There are many houses 200+ years old, and it is very charming.

I know Europeans think nothing of 200+ year old structures, but its pretty neat in the US, and thought it might be neat for you as well.

I haven't been to VB so I can't report.

We have added HHI resort vacation after a OKW trip many times. It is about 6 hours(differs with traffic) on our way home to Boston. We love HHI and added points there in 2002, its the relaxing atmosphere that we love any time of year. The last 2 times we have done this after our xmas trip to WDW and did side trips to Savannah and just shopped and walked the beach and just enjoyed the vacation after the vacation. We have even just stopped for one night..on our way back....I can't comment on Vero, but HHI is a great add on.
