Adding Gift Card to MDE?

Hey fellow DISers I apologize if this is the wrong thread.
is it possible to link a Disney GC to your account in the MDE app? I just purchased a Disney GC to pay our booking deposit (through our travel agent) and there is still a balance left over because I added more than necessary due to exchange rates. I wanted to link the card to my account but I can't seem to figure out how, I only see a spot for adding Credit Cards?

I think the CC is attached to your resort not to the actual MDE. You charge to your room and then it goes to the CC .
You would need to go down to FD every few days to use your GC instead of the CC on file.

what about if you're in the parks and want to mobile order your food and pay with a gift card? I'm trying to avoid using CC because we are coming from Canada and I'm trying to avoid foreign transaction fees as much as possible

You are not able to add a Disney gift card to MDE to use for payment. You will have to present the card as payment
You can attach a credit card to the account to use for charging and use the gift card to pay off the charges prior to their being run.
Stop at the desk daily to pay off charges with the gift cards.
That's the only 2 ways to use gift cards at Disney for in park purchases

Yes you can. When you Mobile Order it will ask you for payment and you key in your Gift Card. At least last summer it will not save the info, we had to key in each time OR put info in Notes and then copy paste.

thank you!! that makes much more sense than the previous posters answer. I just couldn't imagine the push to everything mobile and not let you pay with a giftcard..makes zero sense

If you have an IPhone you can add the gift cards to the wallet. I imagine Androids have something similar.

I have not gone that far yet as I am just starting out. I assume you use the "Disney Card account" for combining cards? If you are stuck with a card with a balance. YES the Phone option is good But Just use the accumulated GC as a tap through out the Resort and or parks until DEAD. OR yes i plan on every 2 days just going in and dropping the card on balance owed at desk. I have heard you need to make a note of saying NOT to charge the CC as you will come down to use GC's.

I was bothered by the FTF with CC's also being from Canada YET I found out captial One card does NOT carry that charge and when i booked the WDW package it was billed in straight CURRENT Exchange. So this will be my CC on file just for incidentals etc.

I dont mind google pay / apple pay etc but WHY bother if the resort charges up your dailies with your Magic card or band. If your phone (FGor whatever reason) tech is funny that way) craps out breaks lost youre right back there anyways. Just my opinion.

I am more worried about the CASH scenarios i am facing lol tips implied or expected hidden taxes BAG fees at the airport lol as i have paid for SEATS but NOT bags and then realized bag charge on return will be in USD. (But i am still ok )

Ok but yowza, seems much easier to pay at the resort than to type it in every time since no, you can’t store them in MDE which was the initial question too

you don't have to type it in every time, save the number in your notes app then copy and paste, much more convenient then having to go to the front desk every single day to settle a bill
