I have a reservation at Rose and Crown in August, at 7:30 pm. I now have one more person traveling with us. I called to try to change it and they tried to find a table for five but there was none. Is there a chance they would let me just add one more chair at the table when we get there?

So was Disney willing to try to work with you? I have the same issue coming up for two meals. I booked 160 days out. Now at 80 days we have an added guest coming, and there aren't any ADR available. I'm really not sure what to do.

If you were taking 1 OFF your ADR that is not a problem, but adding 1 more to an ADR of 4 won't work in my experience. Maybe just check back and see if any other openings for 5 come up between now and your trip? Hoping someone who knows for sure will chime in.

One problem with this is that a party of 4 can be sat at a table for 4, a party of 5 needs a bigger table. You can not just add a chair to a table for 4.

Disney has to abide by occupancy limits, that is the reason that even infants need to be in the number when making ADRs.

It is possible that you could be turned away, especially if it is very busy, so be prepared for that. However it is also possible that you will just have to wait longer until a table that can accommodate your party is available.

In the mean time, keep checking online and / or on the phone.

That's what I thought. We actually have 6 and need to up to 7. There is an ADR cancel thread so I subscribed to that and am hoping maybe someone will cancel something I need. My back up plan is to banish the lone guy to the bar. I'm pretty sure he will be happier there than at the character meal anyway.

I would say to keep trying the dining line every so often. It could be a matter of just getting lucky at CM roulette. I was once able to add a person (going from 4 to 5) on a number of ADRs - including Ohana dinner. I think I just happened to get lucky and have the right CM pick up my call.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I will keep trying ! And that is the day of my birthday, magic could happen!

Ugh, I am in the same situation. I have to add 1 to a party of 9 :crowded: for two meals.

gotta love the 180 adr system.

It has nothing to do with the CM, it has to do with their being room for your extra guest. You got lucky!:)

It is never a good idea to just show up with an extra person hoping they can be seated. Always try and change your ADR ahead of time to account for the extra person. If that doesn't work, then show up extra early for your meal and explain the problem to the host/hostess. If you are lucky they will be able to seat everyone. If you are not lucky, they won't.

Don't forget Disney would love to seat an additional person. More money for them!

Same thing happened to my family in 2010. Our party of 4 had a last minute guest join us for our whole trip. So that meant we had to change all of our 7 reservations during February break week to 5 people.

We just decided to show up and see what would happened and it turned out fine everywhere. The cast members never had a problem with it being 5 instead of 4, and like I said this was a busy week and about 7 different places.

I would try to change it I guess but don't worry too much.

I think you might have better luck then the rest of us. Id definitely try calling if I was going from an odd number of people to even number. Maybe my logic is wrong, but don't seats at tables come in even numbers? So a party of 9 would be sitting at a table for 10 anyway, just with an open seat. The computer wouldn't get that logic, but a CM might.

I had planned on calling to try anyway. Finally got around to it today and had no problem adding my stepdaughter to two meals, H&V breakfast, and CP lunch. :cool1:

I had this problem before but the CM I talked to said just go to the Resaraunt when your supposed and ask to add another person. She usually it's not too much of problem, but you never know

I've had to do this before as well. I changed the reservations I could to add the extra person.

The ones I couldn't, we just showed up. Most places it wasn't a problem at all. At BOG they told me we could be waiting up to an hour if we had to add a guest.
