Adding dining to a discounted room-only ressie

Quick question: I booked the new RO discount to our Poly stay today. The CM said I could add dining and theme park tickets anytime up to 72 hrs. prior to travel. She went on to say that the room-only would have to be cancelled and re-booked as a package in order to get the dining. Should I do this right away? I didn't think of it at the time, but I just thought that the GP code might not be available at the Poly during our dates. The reason I booked room-only is due to the 45 day cancellation package rules. Due to the nature of DH's job, there is always a chance we'll have to postpone our trip.

Do I have more time to add dining or should I do this ASAP?

They are able to do it seamlessly. I changed my package components several times last trip, starting from room only, then adding MYW Deluxe Dining, then going down to just tickets, then going back to Deluxe Dining. I'm sure our discount code wasn't available long after the first reservation, and I know no other rooms in our classification were available when we made the change.

If it is a true room only res (not an AP ticketless package or something like that) then the funds cannot be transferred to a WDTC package -- unless the funds were made by check.
If you plan on ending up with a MYW package anyway, my opinion is your life is easier by just booking a package from the start.
A room only res will be cancelled, those funds refunded however you paid, and a new travel package booked.
