I have the Poly booked with the 40% discount room only from the pins back in February. Can I not add the dining plan to that now???? I just inquired about it and the CM I spoke with on the phone said no :confused3 Did I just get ahold of an uninformed CM or what gives?!

Yes, but you will have to add at least a 1 day ticket as well. So adding a ticket and DP, yes, just the DP, no.

Yes, planning on tickets too. The CM acted like I would lose my 40% off and I would have to go with a completely different offer. I guess I will call back in the hopes to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about.

I'm not sure that you can because of the way the reservation system is set up. Adding the dining plan means changing from a room only reservation to a package reservation. This means cancelling the room only reservation and creating a new package reservation based on the way the computers are set up. You can't book a new reservation using an expired promotion.

This is where IMO a good TA comes in handy. A good TA will work hard to find a way to make this work. Doing this on your own may mean lots of calls in to CRO to find somebody who knows how the heck to make it work in the computers.

Just call back to get someone else. When I booked my room only discount room, I asked about doing exactly what you want to do, and the cm said yes it can be done, but some don't know how to do it but it absolutely can be done.

The same thing happened to me. The 40% is only on the room, and I dont think the CM realized that I knew that. When you call back, make sure you tell them you want the DP and you realize you cant get a discount on that.

Yes, you can do that. I did it to my Dec. trip when I had 40% off the room. A few weeks before I added tickets and dining.

Wait, when is your trip? You have to add the dining at least 7 days before the trip.

You can book a room discount on the website and then add tickets and dining so you must be able to do it on the phone. I played with numbers and the dates a million times while the room offer was still up and was able to add tickets and dining after the fact no problem. Call again and get someone else.

Thanks, that is what I am hoping. I am almost positive that when I booked the room, that particular CM said you just needed to add the DP a certain amount of days prior to your visit.

Good to know! Thanks! :thumbsup2

May 11, so I should be OK still.

My reservation is not showing up on the website :confused3 or else I would try that. I would rather do it all myself, vs. talk to a CM....

Good idea! I will do just that! THanks everyone!

Sometimes Guest Services has to make the change when a pin or promo has expired so you don't lose the room discount, but it can be done :). The DDP just has to be added at least 3 days prior to arrival ;).

What pp said is correct

As others have said, it definately can be done. We have done it ourselves. The only *glitch* is that you will now need to convert you room only reservation to a package reservation - In order to do this they will need to cancel your room only, refund you any money you have on that reservation - and make a new package reservation that will require a new $200 deposit (or payment in full if you are within 45 days) - they cannot transfer funds on a room only reservation to a package reservation. :)

And when you switch to from room only to package, you may lose your room request. This happened to me at CBR. Even though I booked the room in June ( for Christmas week) when I changed it to a package in Dec., I think I lost my place in line for my room request. I wanted to be close and our room was really far from the food court. I think they give priority to those that book early.

So, if you do this and the pin has already expired, do you lose that pin or do they just transfer it?

Thanks.

You should be able to keep the PIN discount. Regular reservations may not be able to do it though - if they can't, ask them to be transferred to Guest Relations - they are the ones who did it for us. :)

When I switched from a package to a room only I was able to keep my discount, but it had not expired yet so I am not sure about that one. Hopefully it works for you, I would ask for someone else or a manager if you get someone who doesn't know how to do it.:)

How hard was it to switch from a package to a room discount? Is it the same process (refund the $200, then pay for room only portion), done through guest services? Was there a charge to downgrade? I have two trips scheduled and I'm considering purchasing an AP, so I'm wondering how hard it would be to downgrade to room only if I'm booked with 40% off pin.
