Adding days to tickets

Can you add days to DL tickets like you can WDW ones? If I buy a 4 day hopper and decide we want to play another day is it easy enough to just add a day?

Totally easy we did this on our last trip..just stop at WDTC in DTD before your last day is over.

I haven't done this, but my understanding is that if you do this, you'll lose any discount you had on the tickets. You can upgrade, but you'll end up paying the gate price for new ticket overall. So, it could be much cheaper just to buy the number of days you want in advance...hmm, that sounds confusing, let's try this instead:

They somehow know how much you paid for the ticket originally and only apply that value towards the gate-price of the new hopper.

That is true...you pay the difference from what you actually paid and the price of the new ticket...but unless you got a smoking deal on the 4 day hopper it should still be less than starting over with a 1 day park hopper.

Yes, they charge the difference between the price you paid the price of the upgraded hoppers....and you can do this at Guest Services and the ticket booths.

Oh yes, definitely! What I was advocating was buying the 5-day in the first place!

A single day ticket $76

If I but the 5 day now my cost is only $10 additional, but if I wait to add a day to my ticket at the gate my cost would rise to $76??

I think what they are saying is a 4 day bonus ticket is $201 now, but a 5 day pass at the park is $251. You will have to pay $50. You are not able to get the $211 at the park, so they apply what you have already paid to a 5 day pass at their price.

Not quite. A 4-day hopper is $201, a 5-day hopper is $211 - if bought in advance online. If you waited to buy the tickets at the gate, you would pay $251 for the 5-day hopper...So, if you went to upgrade the 4-day hopper (that you paid $201 for) to a 5-day hopper, you'd have to pay the difference between the price you paid and the gate price of a 5-day hopper ($251). So, $50 to upgrade then vs. $10 to upgrade now. That's why I recommend buying the extra day when you buy your tickets. It's still cheaper than buying a 1-day ticket, but would be much cheaper just to buy in advance...

Also, you can get a little better price on tickets if you go through one of the discount travel agents like getawaytoday, lastminutetravel or arestravel. The 4-day from getawaytoday is $197 and the 5-day is $206.

Another thing you can do...

200 bucks is a lot of money... Depending on what day you are "adding on" like a weekday or depending on block outs and where you live.. you might be able to upgrade it to a pass. I know this may not apply to you depending on where you live.. but I figured I would add it as info for any southern california fans... The cheapest pass is 184 dollars.

This is actually a method of buying a pass that a lot of my friends use. They use the costco ticket or a park hopper and then they upgrade it on the last day. If you wanted to go on a weekend, but the pass wouldn't allow it, your first few uses could be a weekend and then upgrade to the pass

I JUST went from a 4 day to a 6...it was 14 dollars.

Yep because we are staying offsite we are buying parkhoppers and doing our MM and the weekend and then upgrading to our AP after that so on our last day which is a Monday. Then we get to use our MM and the weekend before we buy our parkhoppers.

This option is not just a good idea for CA residents we live in Montana...If you get an AP and stay a few days each time then it is cheaper than two trips...even if you only go once a year for example 2011 trip at Halloween and 2012 trip in September...once my hubby agreed it was a good deal to cover those two trips he decided we should add a spring trip too so bonus since the tickets are paid for we get an extra trip!
