Adding days to an old ticket...or not!

I have a leftover ticket from a trip that I took several years ago. I stayed at the Beach Club, then switched over to Caribbean Beach for free dining. I never used the two day ticket that I had to buy as part of the package, and instead added the days on to the ticket I bought for Beach Club. I always believed that as long as a ticket hadn't been used, you could add days to it as long as you did it within fourteen days of the first time you entered the park. Today I found out that is not so. I tried to add this ticket to MDE and could not. I called, and found that while the entitlements had never been used (2 park days) the ticket itself had been voided. They added the two day base ticket to MDE. As the rest of my party has 5-day tickets, I called to add days to the 2 day ticket and was told that it cannot be done. They would be glad to sell me a three day ticket to make up the difference. So instead of spending $147 to add three more days to the 2-day, I have to spend $309 for a new one. How did I miss that?? Is there any way around it?

I'm not a ticket expert, but I would guess you'll be able to add days to it after you've used it to enter a park. I think the phone CM was mistaken or misunderstood your situation.

The CM told me no, since it was part of a package and because it's three years old. I didn't think that had anything to do with it. Even if he was wrong, I would lose the advantage of being able to get fastpasses at 60 days and then I would miss being able to ride with my grandkids. So I guess I will just pony up the money and chalk it up to experience.

I know that normal package tickets can have days added once used to enter a park. Even different tickets on the same package reservation can have different upgrades, but the key is it must be done once there.

As for FP, that is an unfortunate side effect of the current FP system.

I had a MK guest services CM tell me that I could not upgrade a ticket purchased from UT because it was more than a few months old. I knew this wasn't true, and was able to upgrade it with no problem with a different CM.

Bottom line, some CM's know more than others. Try when you get there :)

You can upgrade when you get there. You can only do it in person. You should use the ticket first or you'll only receive partial credit (the value assigned at the time it was included in the package) and not the full, current gate price.

If you want to make your FP reservations, I would think you could buy the 3 day and make the reservations. Then when you get there, use the two day ticket to get into the park and then add your 3 days at guest relations. Then reassign the 3 day ticket in MDE and use it next time. They can upgrade the 2 day ticket, you just need to use it first. There have been people on the boards that added days to tickets that were several years old.

Another option is to upgrade the 2-day ticket as soon as you enter the first park. Then, Copy the day's FPs from another person in your group to you.

You can also attempt to book overlapping FPs if Copy doesn't work.

As @ktate82 suggested, buying a 3-day ticket to generate FPs then reassigning it to a "ticket saver" profile for future use is the best way to ensure booking the FPs you need.
