i booked on opening day. My understanding is that if I changed categories on the same sailing I would still get opening day prices. Does anyone know if it is possible to book an additional room and still receive the lower price on the new room?

No - you would pay current prices for the new room.

Yes, if you change categories on the same cruise you get the pricing from the day you originally booked.
