Adding ABD California trips this summer?

The LA Times is reporting that CA may be completely reopen as soon as June 15. With the Avengers campus opening June 10, I'd love to take a trip with ABD to California this summer. But...alas...they've canceled everything except Arizona, Utah, and Costa Rico. What are the chances that they'll add California trips back in?

AbD has not yet cancelled the Alaska, Montana, & Wyoming trips scheduled for this summer. Several departures are waitlist only but others are still open and taking bookings.

Re fhe possibility of California - we still are not yet fully reopened. Many companies still have people working from home & will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Disney has said they will not start to return employees to onsite work until after July 4 with a

While I’ve not done the backstage magic AbD, I’ve been to the studios and Imagineering a few times on other tours. Those sites were built a long time ago and are not very open & spacious. Also there are still theme park restrictions on lengths of indoor rides that cannot yet reopen.

So I would not expect the BSM AbD to start up again this summer, as it would likely be a very reduced experience compared to prior years. Not sure people would be happy with that.

I had clients first scheduled for May and then the end of September. They were canceled again last week and the first available is now 10/3. I doubt we will see any tours added before then.

I live in Northern California and I think "fully reopened" is not the same as what it means in the rest of the country. I don't think it will be back to normal for most businesses until the end of the year with regards to capacity, outside visitors etc. I think the governors guidance just means that businesses can start to reopen. Many companies are still saying that they will be remote optional and no outside visitors until end of the summer or end of the year. I don't know for sure but I bet the Studios and Imagineering are likely operating with reduced visitors etc. I don't see the Backstage Magic Tours happening until much later. I definitely would not want to do that trip without the Studios and Imagineering.

We were at DisneyWorld last week and were telling people we met at the pool what things were still like for schools, businesses etc in California and they could not believe it.

CA native here, and I'll believe CA and DL will reopen when I see it. And even then, I would not be surprised if it goes backwards.

CA has a responsible governor and FL has Ron DeSantis. I'm sure the competency is a shock to Floridians.

This would also explain why, as of April 9th, California has the lowest COVID-19 test positivity rate in the country (at 1%) vs Florida, which has the 9th *highest* rate in the country, at 9.6%.

CA is doing a good job with vaccination too. It's still widespread in my area, but a lot of folks are getting the shots.

Aside from my two year old niece, my whole immediate family is vaxxed (mom, dad, sister, bro-in-law) At least two aunts, an uncle and a couple cousins as well. And a ton of my teaching colleagues and friends are vaxxed too.

If you want to do Backstage Magic, I'd wait until next year. I was thinking about doing the Backstage Magic spring/summer 2022 at the earliest.
