Adding a waitlist to the end of my reservation

This morning (Oct. 19), I called MS to add a waitlist to my reservation. I am currently booked at BLT Oct. 17-21. (I do not own there.) I want to waitlist Oct. 21-24. The castmember told me I couldn't because I'm not 7 months out yet. But I am from the date of my check in (Oct. 17). Am I incorrect in my thinking? How is this different than walking a reservation since in walking, you are adding days beyond your 7 or 11 month window?

Wait lists are treated as separate reservations and the check-in date of the wait list is subject to the 11/7 month booking window guide lines.

If those days became available now, could I book them, since they would be an extension to my existing reservation or would they be considered a new reservation and I would have to wait?

If you try to do it on-line, it would be subject to the booking windows because it would be a separate reservation.

MS can (subject to availability), extend the reservation by modifying the check-out date.
