Adding a purchased magic band?

Can someone please walk me through adding a purchased magic band?
I have only ever gotten them as part of a package, and those go automatically to your MDE account.
I would like to purchase the American Mickey band from the Disney store.
Also, if we get a package, that comes with the band, can I just go in and reassign the ticket to the Mickey band ?

You add the band via your My Disney Experience account. I don't know step by step, but I did it for my nephew, and it was super easy. They pretty much walk you thru it.

Tickets aren't assigned to MagicBands. If a ticket is linked to your My Disney Experience account, it's accessible with any and all MagicBands linked to that same account profile.

Linking a store bought band is easy. Each band has a 12-character Band ID number on the inside of it. Log in to MDE, go to "MagicBands and Cards," and click a button at the bottom that says "Link." Select "MagicBand" and enter the ID number. Click "Next," and then select the guest who you want to link the MagicBand to.

No need to reassign the ticket as you can use the bands interchangeably. Adding a purchased MB is really easy. You'll just login to your MDE account, click into the MB section, click the person you want to assign the band to, and add the number on the back of the band. It takes just a few minutes.

It's super easy and takes about 30 sections. Magicbands/cards on MDE, enter the unique code on the underside of the band, then all the names of everyone linked to your MDE will pop up and you select who you want the band to be with
