Adding a person to ADR?

Our adult son is thinking of joining us for a day while at CS this Wednesday. I already have dining reservations for two for breakfast and dinner at various restaurants. Can we just bring him with us to the meals or should I try to rebook those meals for three? I don't know what I can get at this late notice. Don't most tables seat 4 anyway?

I would try to change them, especially with the restrictions they might not be able to accommodate you - even before covid they were strict about showing up with an extra person . if there were 3 going to 4 it might not be a big deal but even to odd numbers will mess up their seating. While most tables sit 4 they do have 2 tops and that is what you booked.

We are scheduled to have dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe at 7:30 for two. I have eaten there many times, and don't remember any two tops there. Rectangular or round.

I would try to change them, too, even if it meant booking a table for 4 instead of 3. If you can't change them, sometimes, but not always, when you do Mobile Check-in it asks how many adults and how many kids and says that you can add one person, so you can hope that's the case for the ones you can't change. If all else fails, I'd check in at the podium and ask politely to add him to your table.

I'm pretty sure MDE added a feature that you can add one person to an ADR. We were seeing this option on our last trip in Jan. Can anyone confirm?

This is a very popular question, and unfortunately the answer is: You might be able to, you might not. Past experiences don’t mean future outcomes.

Good luck!

I'd try to change it, but if you can't just bring him... it should be fine. We've done it multiple times - most recently going from 4 to 5 twice this past week. They've always been able to make it work. Obviously, they have every right to say no, it's not a guarantee etc. etc., but just to give you some real life experience.

For any restaurant that does mobile checkin, when you start the checkin process in MDE, it will allow you to add one additional person. We’ve done this several times when we weren’t able to get a table for our whole party or when we had someone join us last minute.

Thanks 😊

Call and change...I was trying to subtract people in mid Feb..originally we had planned for 12..i just couldnt do it on line and risk losing the reservation...when i called they said just tell them you will have less when you reach the podium....I feel this left many people that would have liked the ADR out...

We have been asked (via app upon mobile checkin) if we wanted to add 1 additional person to every single Disney reservation since the reopening except for Whispering Canyon on Thanksgiving Day (and we were seated at a 5 top for the 3 of us so definitely could have done it there, too...).

You should be fine :)

granted this was precovid yes the group was seated but there was about an extra wait of 30 minutes. plus it is not just table size but also how many in at a time. just using as an example say room can now only 30 people and you 2 make 30. yes there is space at your table but not in room by covid rules.

Depends on how your ADRs are set up.
If you had to get and ADR for 4, with only 2 of you, you're fine adding him. If your ADR is only for 2, it probably wont work.
You need to try and modify to 4 either on the app or call Disney Dining to change.

As a party of 2, we have been asked everytime if we wanted to add 1 more person so the system doesn't seem to care if your party is even or odd :confused3

True, when you are setting up the ADR.
Once it is set, adding a person can be much more complicated.
As a frequent part of 2, we often end up with an ADR for 4 as no 2 is available.

No, when you check in at the restaurant right now you are asked if you'd like to add 1 more person. This happens if you have an even or odd number.

This was a change when they rolled out mobile check-in after the reopening.
