Adding A Day??

MY DH, DD and I are staying at the GF 12-19-04 to 12-12-23-04 with UPH tickets. We were planning on flying into Orlando on 12-18-04 and staying with my parents (Illinois Snowbirds) that night and driving to WDW early on Sunday morning. They live about 1 hour north of Orlando. Now I am thinking that that is a lot of traveling in a 24 hour period with our 8 year old. OUr last trip in December 2002 we were too tired to enjoy MGM - don't want that to happen again.

Can I add a day (12-18-04) to our stay and not add on UPH tickets? How does it work? - we would go to DTD that afternoon with my parents - no parks. When and how do your UPH tickets start?

You can add a room only day at the start of your vacation to maximize the use of your UPH. In your case, you would check in 12/18 under a room only reservation for one night. The next morning you would checkout from that reservation and check in under your original reservation (you probably won't have to change rooms; make sure you let CRO know to note your plan under the remarks section of both your reservations and then remind the front desk CM when you are checking of your plans). You would get your UPH when you check in the second time (on 12/19), so you have not "wasted" a day of passes traveling to the resort, checking in, etc. This is what we are doing for our trip at the end of May (actually, we are staying an extra day at both ends of our package so we can fully utilize the UPH passes, which means we will check in/out 3 times!).
