I spoke with a sales agent yesterday and will be buying 100 additional points (with Magical Beginnings) at the Boardwalk Villas. At $74 per point right from Disney, I could not pass it up. The question is: Will I now have two contracts - one for the original # of points and one for the additional 100 pts, or will they be combined?

It's considered one membership (you will have the same member ID and use year), but on two contracts. Furthermore, if you pay your dues on a monthly basis, the dues for the add-on will be collected at the same time DVCMC collects the dues from your initial contract.

The points are not combinable, they retain their respective home resort priority.

We originally bought 200 points at BWV and then added on 50 more also at BWV. We have two distinct contract numbers (something like xxxxx and xxxxx.001), but in all other respects, it's as though we just have one contract of 250 points. We've made and modified many reservations and have never had MS mention that we couldn't combine points. Of course, that is because both contracts are from the same resort and have the same use year. I know that I can sell the contracts separately if I wish (not looking to sell, though, LOL). That's about the only "difference" I can think of regarding two or more contracts with the same use year at the same resort.

If your add-on is for a different home resort than your initial purchase, then there are a few more things to think about. You can transfers points between the contracts to make a reservation, but the points retain their original use year and home resort. I've read that some members have transferred points between their contracts (with different home resorts/use years) and then combined them to make a reservation (after the 7 month window opens if for a DVC resort and after 11 month window opens if for one of the non-DVC options). It's been reported that MS is quite flexible about transfers if they are between contracts owned by the same member.

If your initial contract is for BWV, you really can think of your add-on & initial contract as just one contract. No need to do anything special/extra to keep track of two contracts vs one - other than the increase in points, of course!

Thanks CarolMN!! Both my original purchase and this add-on are at BWV so your first paragraph was great information for me. It is nice to know that, God forbid, if I ever needed to sell, I could sell the add-on seprately from the initial purchase. Thanks again!

ok........ quick question, I am looking to add as a suprise for my wife......... thank god she does not read this regularly....., now if I add on at our home resort, but actually the paper work is in my name because I am working this as a suprise, am I going to have problems with paperwork?

i am cracking up watching my 18 mo. daughter take a bite of fuzzy of a stuffed "Bear" bean bag chair. come running over and saying, "here ya' go"...........kids.........our legacy......

ok back from my "new dad" moment.

Do you think I am going to have problems?

T.
