I have 5 people definitely going but a 6th person may accept the invite but wont know until January. My dining reservation window opens next week. Do I make the prepaid reservation for 5 and then call to add the extra person if they decide to come later? Or will I need to cancel then rebook for 6? I am thinking Cinderella’s Royal Table and Hoop De Doo.

I’d look into the cancellation policy of the interested venues and if the terms were favorable book for 6 prepaid.

Definitely make it for 6. There is no guarantee you will be able to add the 6th person later, so always better to include everyone from the beginning. If the 6th person can’t make it, you can try to modify down to 5 later. But if not, just let them know it will be 5 not 6 when you check in. Also let your server know too. The charges for the extra person will be refunded when the check is done at the end of the meal. I have had ADRs for 4 at CRT but the other 2 couldn’t go. We were refunded their charge as well as our AP discount was applied. The server & hostess didn’t even blink about it. I got the impression it isn’t an unusual situation.

The cancelation policy is if NO ONE eats/show up. Book for everyone, then up date at restaurant. You will get the refund at that time.

Book for 6. Disney will NOT modify ahead of the ressie and refund you. They will refund at the venue. You can book the 6th person as an infant so you do not have to pay up front. Then at the venue pay for the adult. I was actually told to do this(in the future) by the HDD staff when I was asking for a refund for my DD that was unable to make our trip.
