Added another day, ran into a dilemma

I originally booked RPR, club level, for 5 nights but airfares went down and I decided to fly out a day earlier. When I called to add another night I found out there were no club level rooms available. I would have to book a standard at regular price even though I am technically staying 6 nights. Regular room is costing only $22 less than a SMSM club level which really bugs me.

I definitely want to stay onsite that first night in order to hit the parks for early opening, but as it stands right now we won't have the benefit of being able to unpack or to indulge in the club level breakfast that first morning. So now I'm wondering if I should switch to one of the other hotels to get club level for the entire stay. I would rather not spend an extra 300-400 but the other resorts have larger rooms and maybe we would be glad we made the change.

Any opinions?

why don't you call the hotel and talk to someone in charge?
explain your situation and see if anything could be done.

So calling the hotel directly vs. calling the 1-800# would put me in touch with someone in a different *position*?

i would give it a try.
explain what the situation is and you might have to cancel that ressie completely and move to another hotel if your stay that includes an extra night can not be worked out.

but, if you end up making a one night only stay there anyhow, and not on club level, make sure the hotel ties both of your reservations together.

Call the hotel directly explain the situation. I see King Club Level rooms are still available. You can ask if they can place you elsewhere on another floor 'with' club level benefits. This is not uncommon. You could always move the next day to CL floor.

Good Luck! :)

Yes calling the 800 # is a call center they are not located at the hotel. Calling the hotel directly puts you in touch with the front desk.

Thanks. If I decide to stay with RPR I will call the hotel about 6 days out to see if they can cut me a deal on the standard room. But after reading posts on the other hotels, I'm considering booking at HRH or PBH.
The extra cost might be worth it, especially since there are 5 of us and the PBH clubs are also deluxes. But I'm thinking that the kids (13, 11, 4) would probably be happiest at HRH.

i don't know the dates you have booked for the hotel.
if you are going in a high season, i would not wait til 6 days out to try to add on another night.

OP here. The night has already been added, it's just not a club level and I don't like the fact that they are charging me full price when I'm staying a total of 6 nights. It should be as simple as a keystroke to change the rate to the SMSM.
I was advised to call the hotel directly to see if they could change the rate. I'm still checking daily to see if a club opens up because then I would switch that first night to match the rest. I was told that only then would I get the same rate as our other nights.

when you called to have the added day on to your ressie, did they say that the allotment of rooms for the smsm promo was gone for your date?

They said that because the room is a different category (standard) than the other room I have booked, I am ineligible for the SMSM rate. They had to book it as a completely different ressie BUT if a club room opens up then I can switch to that and get the SMSM rate.

Sounds like a bunch of BS if you ask me. If I have to stay standard that first night I will call the hotel, tie the ressies together and ask to have club level amenties available in the morning (we arrive at 9pm). I should get some comp for paying full price.

When I tried to do exactly what you are doing there WAS a room open for club but as MAC said they told me the SMSM rate allotment was not available anymore for six days. It would have been $347 instead of $274 for that extra club night. We could have gotten a standard room for $274 but since we aren't arriving till 4:00 I wound up just booking the Holiday Inn maingate with points and will save the money for other stuff on our trip.

Stay More Save More.

rates depends on the dates and how many nights you are booked.

thanks for the info .. but is there a chart somewhere ...?? like if I stay 5 or 6 or 7 nights... to compare the different rates...??

Was your date at the end of your trip? Was it outside of the posted days for the promotional rate? I'm curious why they told me if club opened I could get the rate and they told you no.

It was the beginning of our trip and the way she explained it was they only allot so many days for the SMSM rate. 4 day trips 5 day trips and what I wanted the 6 day trip was sold out???? Forgot to add that it was not outside the promo dates. We were trying to add August 18th to our 19th-24th trip :)

If that is the case, at least I can stop checking the rate everyday and just decide whether I want to stay with RPR with one standard room at check-in or switch to all club at another resort.
Any opinions welcome.

Maybe I should just spend the first night at an inexpensive off-site and get a taxi to RPR the next morning?
