We have 180-point SSR contract with an August use year. We are using our 2024 and 2025 points for our August 2024 trip.Contracts can never change size so what you are really doing is adding a second contract to your membership if it’s the same UY and same owners.
If you choose a different UY, then it’s no longer an add on, but a new membership, and it’s like you are two different owners.
We have three, but use them pretty much on their own for different trips, or for split stays which we do almost every trip.

I am also looking for a second contract of 160-200 points and trying to keep an August use year, but I was thinking that might not be necessary since when I purchase this new contract, I will use the 2025 and 2026 points to book for August 2025.
The following year I will use the points for 2026 and 2027 from the original contract to book for August 2026.
Expanding past an August use year for our next purchase gives a far greater selection of contracts to consider but I will not do that if there are flaws, I have not thought about. I will not consider September or October use years since we plan to travel mostly in August for the immediate future.
Is this a workable plan or is it something that could be problematic?
I am actually tracking BLT contracts. BLT would be my preference. I also thinks that might work best. I would need 340 points for a 9 day lake view 1 bedroom stay. We could use that contract every other year at BLT and use the SSR contract as SAP the alternate year." tom1944: Is this a workable plan or is it something that could be problematic? "
I'm not as experienced as many on disboard - but might suggest waiting until there this August to see if your family has another resort you love? SSR does not seem to need Home Resort Priority as much as some, and you might find having a second location contract is a nice every-other year change. If you love another resort or location (on the monorail for MK, crescent lake or Riviera for Epcot, or enjoy the savannahs of Animal Kingdom, for example) - it might be fun to add one of those as your second contract. Also consider, smaller contracts "tend" to resell faster/easier - so consider a couple of contracts you can divide up to sell (downsize) or bequeath if the added closing expenses are not that much more (ie: 2 100s instead of 1 200). If all the same Membership / Use Year they are pretty easy to use regardless of how many "contracts" you have in a Membership.
Well I think especially with 1BR lakeviews, if that's what you're going to be going after I really don't think you need home resort priority if you book at 7 months. If you want BLT during holidays like July 4th and NYE then sure or if going during Oct/Dec for MNSSHP or MVMCP then maybe?I am actually tracking BLT contracts. BLT would be my preference. The key will be can I buy at the right price and do I need it to get the room I want at the time I want to go.
If SSR points can get me the room and the savings are over $10,000 that is worth consideration.
I know BLT is a longer contract and less dues but $10,000 savings is nothing to sneeze at.
That’s what keeps going through my mind.Well I think especially with 1BR lakeviews, if that's what you're going to be going after I really don't think you need home resort priority if you book at 7 months. It's a bad excuse but I always have FOMO and I feel like since I'm paying majority of the price in dues anyways I'd probably BLT but it but it's probably not necessary. One of the things I don't like about BLT is that I feel like there isn't that much of a delta between standard and lake view cost and with you going for lake view anyways idk if it's worth?
If that’s the case and the primary purpose is BLT 1BR, SSR is probably the better option just because of opportunity cost despite increased dues. That’s what keeps going through my mind.
We will travel in August for most trips with an occasional late January trip.
I also am not one that generally has FOMO. I always seem to be happy with whatever situation I am in.
We had a running family joke that my favorite vacation of all time was the trip we took to Buffalo and Scranton.
I think you are probably right. If that’s the case and the primary purpose is BLT 1BR, SSR is probably the better option just because of opportunity cost despite increased dues.
