add on via DVC--different UY--no extra charge?

There is not a UY for what I want to add on right now. I asked about adding on a different UY. My guide said it is not advised, b/c difficult to manage and you can't combine points at 7 months--but he said it can be done and it is not more $$ than same UY. I thought it was either more $$$ or they didn't allow it. Anyone add on a different UY via DVC recently?

It is allowed, but DVC might require a minimum purchase number of points because you will be purchasing another master contract. Keep in mind that different UYs equal different accounts. You will be assigned a second member number for new contract.

Did you guide put you on a wait list for your UY? What resort are you purchasing?

They didn't use to allow different use years - or at least that was what I was told by my guide when I inquired about it and other people reported the same at the time. DVC has made a few unadvertised changes in point minimums and such so it doesn't surprise me that they loosened the rules on same use year too.
