Hi All,

We bought our first DVC as a resale over 2 years ago, 100 points at BCV with APR UY, and we love it. We've had four short stays - 2 at BCV and 2 at OKW. Now, we want to add on more points through another resale at OKW. We understand (we think) the advantage of buying this OKW resale with the same UY (April) as the BCV contract - puts them on the same contract & prevents the need to transfer points from one contract to another.

Our first question is regarding combining these for the 11 month booking. Say we want to book at BCV 11 months out for a stay requiring more than the BCV points we have available. Can the OKW points be combined for this reservation or would we have to wait until 7 months out to make this full reservation?

Our second question is regarding the 2042 and 2057 OKW contracts. Is there an expected premium to be paid for a 2057 OKW contract? Any disadvantages to purchasing the 2057 contract?

Thanks!
Jeff

You have to wait until 7 months out to use the OKW points for a BCV stay.

I can't think of any reason not to buy the longer OKW contract. There may be a premium, but I don't think it's been as much as DVC charged for the extension.

As bobbiwoz mentioned, only BCV points can be used to book BCV 8 - 11 months out, and only OKW can be used to book OKW 8 - 11 months out. At the 7 month mark, you can combine them any way you want to make a reservation anywhere you want.

Personally, if the April UY is working for you, I'd keep it, even if I had to pay a little more to get a contract with an April UY. We just purchased, and I could have gotten some OKW points cheaper if I had been willing to buy a different UY, but I stuck with what I had. We had 2 UYs at one point, and while not horrible, I wouldn't do it again unless I saw a deal I just couldn't refuse.

Lastly, when we just purchased resale, we bought OKW. I would have opted for a 2057 expiration date, but there just weren't many contracts out there. The few that were wanted about $10 - $15 per point more, but you can see on the ROFR thread that some have sold for close to the same amount as the 2042. If you are in no hurry, can find one and negotiate a good enough deal on one, go for it! The other option that you have is to hunt for a really low priced 2042 contract and then extend it once you buy. You can extend for $25 per point. We just bought a 2042 OKW points via resale, and I just got the paperwork yesterday asking us to opt in or opt out.

Best of luck with your research and purchase! :thumbsup2
