add-on(really resale) and names on contract??

DH and I own 300 VWL points jointly with FIL and step-MIL. DH and I just paid cash for 61 OKW points. I called today to see if we were in the system and the woman I spoke with kept talking about our 361 total points. DH and FIL are the members on the original contact while step-MIL and I are just associates on the contract. DH and I paid for the resale and I signed the paperwork. Now MS tells me that FIL and Step-MIL have as much equal rights to the 61 points as we do. Now, I know that we really won't have a problem with FIL and stepMIL, HOWEVER, I PAID FOR THIS WITH MY MONEY! Why should they get equal access to my points??? I guess I thought that since the "owners" would be different on the two contracts, we would get a separate membership for the 61 points. DH and FIL signed the original and DH and I signed the resale. Has anyone had experience with this before? I don't anticipate having any problems, but if God forbid, something happens to DH, does that mean that FIL now owns ALL the points, even the ones I paid for?? I just don't get it!

no you would have to buy 150 points to get a new contract in your names.

when you do an add-on - it is adding on the original contract.

that is what an add-on - you can only add on to an original contract. so the owners of the original contract have to be the owners of all the add on.

But would there be a difference between a resale and an add-on? We did not go through disney. I could've put it all in my name, but didn't think that would be fair to DH. Now I'm the one losing out.

From the sounds of it, Disney just read the first name and automatically filed it with the other.(You know how computers are, garbage in & garbage out)

The new one should stand on it's own since the contract names and associate names are not the same. Therefore you & hubby have total control over the points!

Thanks! DH managed to get through to a real person in accounting at MS yesterday afternoon. They agreed that Disney had made a mistake and would be sending us separate member cards for the new contract.

There are some negatives and positives to having them together. If you weren't worried about it, you could have just left it alone as there are some banking and points use advantages. But there are some negatives as well and it sounds like you'll be more comfortable having them totally separate. Do you get separate mailings now? If not, you may have to work with member admin to make this happen as address and not name is the match factors they use to prevent duplicate mailings.

On a side note that may or may not apply to this situation. When we bought our first contract, we only put my name then added my wife as an associate. When we bought a separate second contract with both names on it, she got a blue card for the first one as well even though she was never legally on that contract.

I believe that we do get separate mailings. However, it's not something that has ever been a concern to me as DH was the primary address, so we get everything. Well, most of the time. FIL got our $200 Disney Dollars incentive when SIL bought her points.
