Hello,

I am fairly new to DVC (about 1 month now) and I have some add on questions (addonitis sure hit quick)...

First of all, I would like about 100 more points, we already own at AKV and I am wondering if I should add on there are somehwere else...

So, here are my questions:

1) Incentives for current members, I thought I read somewhere that you get double developers points. What does that mean?

2) Are incentives better for SSR than for AKV?

3) How soon do they show in your account? I would ideally like to use the incentive to go over NYE at AKV, so they need to be in there very quickly I would suppose in order to secure one of the concierge rooms for NYE?

4) I can see some availability on DisneyWorld.com for some 2 bdrm villas over the time frame that I want to go (I don't think I really care where we stay, just being there for NYE would be fun), does this ever translate into availability at DVC in the event that I can't get a AKV Concierge room?

5) How hard is it to get DVC from 12/28-1/2? We would love to take a good friend of mine and her family (my 2 sons' best friends) as she has just completed her treatment for Cancer and seems to be in remission, what a great way to celebrate the New Year!

Thanks for any help you can provide as I think the booking for Value and Concierge rooms for 12/1 starts soon!

My understanding is 160 pt minimum at AKV gets you an additinal 320 developer points that must be used within 7 months.

2) Are incentives better for SSR than for AKV?

SSR is $10 off with a 50 or 100 pt minimum (sorry, I forget which... it was a 50 min before the price increase) Which is better depends on your needs & wants.

3) How soon do they show in your account? I would ideally like to use the incentive to go over NYE at AKV, so they need to be in there very quickly I would suppose in order to secure one of the concierge rooms for NYE?
I think the points show once you pay your deposit (or very soon thereafter). Someone else may have more accurate info.

CRO inventory (disneyworld.com) has absolutely nothing to do with DVC inventory. You are looking at the busiest week of the year at a brand new resort (meaning the DVC section of AKV is new) with limited availability (since construction is ongoing). I wouldn't get my hopes up but that's me.

I think it depends on how flexible you are willing to be about where to stay. The home resort advantage can come into play here for many resorts. Not impossible.

I am new and trying to learn. If you do a 50 pt add on, does that give you home resort priority? If not, at what point does it? Can you reserve at the 11 month window with all your points or only the points at that resort?

I just see so many people who own small contracts at several resorts, and I am trying to grasp the concept. If this is covered somewhere else, please point me. I have tried to find my answers and no luck, yet.

Yes, a 50 point contract would give you the 11 month reservation prority for that resort - but only at that resort. At 11 months, only the points owned at a specific resort may be used to make a reservation at that resort. Points from multiple resorts may be combined to make a reservation at 7 months.

The incentives being offered usually have a minimum number of points associated with the purchase, so be sure to include those details in any purchase plans.

Does anyone know the current prices for sold out resorts from DVC? Thank you, if you can help us out.

This is so very true. My wife and I planned and completed a "last minute" stay at SSR over this past memorial day weekend. I checked disney.com's resort availability at various DVC resorts just to get idea of how "packed" WDW DVC resorts would be. The normal resorts appeared wide open. When MS opened up at 1200 on May 19, we were surprised to learn that we had just booked the last DVC room, for points, over the May 24-31 time period(according to MS). Not only did we get the last room, we also had to pay for one of the nights.

So, "normal"(CRO) room availability does not correspond to DVC availability.

We DVC'ers are a different breed. If it is a low period for WDW, we go to the parks. If it is a peak period for WDW, we go to the parks. We are addicted!

Good question. I am interested as well. Also, if anyone knows the monthly dues rates for various DVC resorts, that would be great as well.

Prices for the sold out resorts are:
BCV = $101
BWV, VWL = $98
OKW, HH and VB = $92

There is a nice table of dues info here: http://personalpages.tds.net/~rb/DIS/DVC/DVCDuesHistory.htm It doesn't include AKV however. The 2007 dues at AKV are $4.62/pt.

Thanks so much for your replies so far.

Has anyone tried an add on since the new prices? I have seen so many different offers on other threads, I guess I still don't know what is available to current members.

Do they have different incentives for existing owners vs. new buy ins?

Thanks again!

I just called on Friday and added-on 25 more points at BWV (at the new rates). The points were available for my use year. My guide said it would take a week to process as the admin team is backed up, working to 9pm each night trying to get all the paperwork finalized. I didn't ask if this was because of add-ons before the rate went up or new DVC members.
